How to cut off the arm?
I tried the first guy with a weapon, who comes down the stairs, aimed his right arm and tried to cut it off . But that does not work. The weapon is on the floor, but I can't take and use it.
Please help. I am new to Surge and don't understand the game.

You need to avoid damaging any other parts of the body. Later in game there will be a way to do so easily but for now try to position yourself to the left of your target (assuming you need the right arm and he's facing you). Also you need enough energy to do the execution (cutting off). There will be a button prompt when enough damage is done.

This video here should help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ7EI7Nqaa8

I still can't cut off the arm. The guy is dead and I can't get the weapon although I aim his arm.

Ah, did you perform a finishing move? When your opponent is low on health and his armour is broken, a prompt should appear to press either X or E depending on your platform. Keep the button pressed for a few seconds and the game should transition to a canned finishing animation featuring your character brutally dismembering their opponent, which generates a glowing pyramid on the floor which can be picked up to give you whatever the opponent dropped.

If you didn't get the prompt, perhaps you didn't damage the limb enough, as F35 suggested.

edit: furthermore, to perform a finishing move, you need at least one bar of energy - the blue bar below your stamina and health. You gain energy by dealing damage or by picking up special blue items that sometimes appear after combat, as well as by collecting enough scrap metal to buy another level. The first method is the only one you have to worry about for now. If you attack frequently, gaining a full bar of energy shouldn't be a problem.

Good! Now you just need to repeat that a hundred times or so. :)

End screen stats show average number of cuts is 700, so there's a lot more cutting to be done :Surge2energy:

Stands to reason, I suppose. Oh well.
