Also in the second phase, you should destroy these Nanite things that it throws at you.
And the 3rd phase... well parry and stay close. Everything else was mostly instadeath for me
I feel Leveling doesen't do much... I was lvl 40 when I fought Delver and wasn't bothering to upgrade Armor past lvl 2/3.
But unlike you I've found many parts prior to this boss way harder. All bosses before that, actually.
Really? I mean I guess I could see that. The Little Johnny fight wasn't hard, just SUPER annoying. I say this one is hard just because SOOOO much is going on. Little Johnny was just a mess and difficult to target properly.
Were you parrying all throughout the entire fight? This guy says only do it in the first phase.

I hear you on the leveling part. It seems like kinda wash. In general I wish leveling had more of an impact on these games. I really like throwing on tv shows and grinding for ridiculous amounts of times but at the end of the day the improvement always feels negligible. This game far worse than the FromSoft or Nioh.
I think I mostly found Delver relatively easy, because I fought The GAIA enemies over and over again to get good at parrying. They mostly took the edge off the learning curve there (:
I parried all left/right attacks, but dogded forward atks, because I coudn't figure out the timing or direction (I don't use the Parry indications implant). If not parry, just hit&run with a spear.
But yes, I thought it was the key to beat all 3 phases. Especially the Left/right swings in the 3rd phase are super easy in their timing.
Should say that this is just me with the Sekiro mindset still active^^ Hesitation is defeat and all that...
How are the other bosses in the rest of the game? Are they this lame? Should I even continue playing if I can't get the blocking down?
I hear you on Sekiro but this game's mechanics are no where as tight as that game. Blocking in Sekiro is like pretty much perfect. Feels like they slapped it on in this game last minute.
Which implant?

I leveled up a lot though, but everyone said that doesn't do much for this game. I did have a strategy that I am sure others have done. I dropped a lot in stamina and maxed out the Gaia set of armor and the Gaia spear. I parried a little but I barely had to. I took a lot of shots, but I used a lot of implants that kept my batteries full and kept healing. (As well as my attack speed up so I could land a lot of shots to fill up the batteries.) I guess I tanked it but still it was very easy. The last boss was kinda a joke. There was only on phase? I didn't see that coming.
The game is a lot of fun but it's really all over the place in a lot of ways. I hope the next game they think through a lot more.
Phase 2 is the one I hate the most, because if he gets you in a corner it's bedtime for bonzo. You basically have to bullfight him, and sidestep-strike hoping you can boop him on the snoot.
Phase 3 is easy to kite, and Phase 1 isin't all too hard to figure out.
After some 5 tries, and after almost killing the Delver twice (once at 2nd try and again at 4th try) I stopped trying to parry this crap and used the good and old Dark Souls strategy of always hit and dodge to the side or away in case I can not understand what is happening or need to heal.
Codename: Moonlight for stages 1 and 2
GAIA Lancer for stage 3
and he was easy.
To be fair, once it entered stage 3 I started attacking over and over as I was missing all parries, at stage 1 I was nailing most parries and stage 2 I was almost not nailing any but stage 3 was a disaster and I was not able to even see wtf was happening in front of me as the Delver was standing up in front of me or right above me.
Delver attacks by the left but many times I need to parry by the right (or vice-versa) and it screws me as I always pay attention to enemy movement to do the parry (obvious, I see and check the indicator but I dont go just by the indicator and that is a problem, I did not practice to pay attention only to the indicator and it is like reading the word "yellow in blue color" or "reading the word left at a right arrow", it creates confusion).
Delver done, now I have to guess where to go as I gone to where I was indicated but found nothing.
In case someone read this and is having problem with parrying the Delver . . . dont even bother trying, it is not needed at all, but help a lot if you can manage to parry it consecutively.
So maybe there is still hope for me (although I already tried not parrying him).
Thanks.
Stage 1, hit and get out.
Stage 2, wait for Delver to charge at you after he jumps on the walls, attack some times then get out.
Stage 3, wait for Delver to dive at you then you get out as far as you can.
Dodge only once, hit and get out, safest way possible and very manageable.
"sidenote with spoilers":
Delver repeat through the game so learn him now, it gets a little tricky later for reasons you will understand.
