But so far the first 30 minutes have been very unsatisfying, both graphically as well as gameplay wise. (What happend to the original artstyle and graphics design?)
That didn't help...
For me the game looks something like:

And as I said, I had no troubles running the original Surge... :(

With this no HDR support on pc
As I already mentioned, turning of the dynamic scaling fixed the problem.
I knew it was at a very bad resolution, I just didnt know what caused it...
and same settings outside

That is dynamic resolution for sure. Turn that off and make sure it's on 100% (Just saw you already posted that you fixed it lol sorry)
All newer games have this now. No clue why because playing on anything lower than 100% is complete garbage.
I believe they do this because they need it on consoles in order to maintain 30 fps (60 on the pro, I guess) on 80 p and especiall in "4k" on the pro. They implemented it there, so I guess they figured the engine can do it, why not port it on pc, too. I fear that this is the go to "optimization" method for many developers, rather then giving more options to tweak the visuals for your desired framerate.
Terrible shimmering and weird lighting. Awful AA, everything is jagged and shimmers..
Good lord this game does look AWFUL.
Looks better in this image than in game, but there are bad shimmer lines around everything, look at her clothes lining, the items in the left bkg, her eyes..just wow. It looks awful.

This is MAX all settings at 1440p even...
Turning off CA and AA to TFAA helps a little..but sheesh.
Also this game probably has the worst eyes I have ever seen in a game.
(There are some nice particle effects though)
You also have to restart the game for 50% of the Graphics changes which is stupid. I changed my gamma and had to restart the game lol
Are you sure that is used on consoles though? The difference is so noticeable even at 90% it looks like crap..it seems more like a last resort that when even LOW settings is unplayable you can drop the res scale.
I do not recommend TAA, it is one of the worst TAA implementations I've seen. Ruins everything that moves with horrible smearing...SMAA also does... nothing lol.
You can clean the game up very good with Reshades SMAA. Also the second zone (the one with the little Jhonny quest) does not have proper black levels. Reshade also helps here. In case one color adjustment doesent work for another zone in the game, you can just switch them on and off per hotkey.
I like the game alot, but visually, it's often just broken. It gets much better in the forest area though.
I agree, the game is fun though. Unfortunately cannot use reshade because I play on Xbox Game Pass and it blocks you from copying files in the folders...(and you cannot unlock no matter what) - Game Pass is trash, only playing here because it is free.
Game just crashed though, another typical Game Pass feature..
