Vulkan error after latest patch
Hello everyone,

We noticed that some of you were experiencing game crashes (Vulcan error) after our latest patch. This is caused by the newest version of NVIDIA drivers. We’re getting in touch with them to investigate.

Meanwhile, we suggest you to roll back your drivers to 436.48 (or any previous version you have). This should fix the vulkan errors.

Please tell us if you still have this issue in the replies, with your log files, DxDiag, and settings.ini

How to get log files?
  • Open C:\Users\XXX\Documents\The Surge 2\settings.ini
  • Add the following lines to it:
    • logging_enabled = true
    • crashdump_level = Large
  • Save and close
  • Get back into the game
  • Reproduce your issue
  • Open Open C:\Users\XXX\Documents\The Surge 2\logs
  • Send us what you have (with a WeTransfer link or other similar services)

How to get your settings.ini?
  • C:\Users\XXX\Documents\The Surge 2

Please send us these files via WeTransfer link or other similar services. We’ll have a deeper look into it.

Thank you in advance.

I've been on 436.48 since release and I started seeing this error occasionally after the patch. Not, often though, maybe once every few hours. Didn't have any problems pre-patch. I updated my drivers after the last crash. I will roll back and send you some logs if it happens again.

This is on 436.48. I've verified the game files since the patch.

I played 76 hours with Nvidia's driver version 436.30 without any issues.

You've got people reporting it before 440.97 even existed.

Good thing you're reaching out to nvidia though, it seems you're still quite fresh to Vulkan and could use the help. VK's a different beast to DX11 and OpenGL and quite easy to hang one range of cards while not doing it to another.

Rolling back to 436.48 fixed it for me, played 14 hours straight without a single crash.

Should we be afraid of our save files getting corrupted becaus eof the crash? So far I haven't noticed any problems, but I'm curious as I don't want to lose my 58 hrs savefile.

I had an errorless crash lock me out of Giddeon Rock while using older drivers, it forced me to update and now i get Vulkan error basically everywhere, usually multiple times in a row. Easy for you to say "Just roll back your drivers lol" Any ideas on where am i supposed to get a 431.60 version? Cause i sure as hell can't find it. Year is 2019 and we still have loading screen crashes... most games don't even have traditional loading screens anymore, frankly this is just embarrasing. What next? AccesViolation errors from 2004?

Myself i wont go back to an older driver release, but for the other folk if they want then go here. All the drivers are up there.

However, with a game of this caliber, it would be good if there were no such mistakes...

Or if they do, the developers would fix it with a patch.

Had the crash once after entering a loading screen, other time when smashing a box.

Just to be thorough I tried 440.97 and the crashes were much more frequent with that version. I've gone back to 436.48 which is at least playable. Still waiting for a proper fix though.
