can't shoot

I start a new game, buy a laser cannon, game starts, I attach the laser cannon to my ship, start flying, but I can't shoot!! Tried every single button on both controllers..

Balance Issues - To nake things more like the Shmups we like!

The latest beta is cool, but some things occured to me: The small enemies take way too many shots to destroy. They are supposed to be dropping like flies in a game like Raiden or Dononpatchi. Even the power up capsules - take too long to open. ( the sound of those shots is really annoying, btw! ) It also seems cheap when they fire on you after you think they are scrolled past. In a regular shmup, they are supposed to be "gone" after you evade them Instead of having a pre-built ship to start with, it'...
