This little game is a lovely little brain teaser, with some nice physic and honestly as I usually play fps and action games this was quite a lovely rest from that. I enjoyed the slower pace and figuring out how to beat a level. I think with this game it's actually easier to make a pros and cons list for the review...

Pros:

* Lovely graphics that let your eyes rest.
* Isn't too hard
* Does actually get harder gradually, not like some games where it is easy, easy, holy cwap what the hell is this...
* Makes you think a bit
* Addictive
* Enjoyable
* Not that expensive, it doesn't even cost a dollar.


Cons:
* Not enough levels O.o..... (Didn't think I would say that for any game) I finished this game in an hour.

If you like puzzle games and some physics, give this game a shot. It doesn't cost much (I got it for free thanks to a friend) and it really is addictive. For me the hardest part was getting the level 11 ballsaver achievement, but I managed that eventually as well. Was a lovely little brain teaser.

Puzzle games on Steam whether they’re in 2D or full 3D, shall always represent the much needed break from narrative-based titles. Those games that like to focus on more things at once, tend to stress gamers to a certain degree. And if you test them out + write about them on a regular basis like I do, well, you definitely need gaming’s equivalent of a pause. Without racing towards the other extreme: casual, mobile “games”. Irony has it, that Art of Gravity is also on mobile platforms, yet it cannot share the shame of any pathetic cash grabs as it sadly has to share space with them on smartphones or tablets. Unless you buy the PC version, of course.

Lucky for us Steam gamers, we have literally hundreds of options to choose from. The one I’m reviewing today, is among the better ones on the Store and its small price tag, really doesn’t do this game justice. On both PC and iOS, Art of Gravity’s asking price is still one single buck. Its developer/publisher is by no means, a newcomer. Hamster On Coke Games (creative title, I know) have already graced gamers with other affordable brain teasers such as, Hook, Zenge or klocki.

The story in Art Of Gravity features the complex system adopted primarily by puzzle games. No story here, buddy! What, you really expected a plotline to these abstract & physics-based gameplay mechanics? It plays perfectly well without needing so much as a flimsy explanation or context. Not even a tutorial and this slightly annoyed me. Nonetheless, I don’t blame the devs for wanting players to dive right into the action though. Art Of Gravity has so many levels of various length in terms of completion time, that you won’t feel left out or bored. As with any similar titles from this genre, playing in short gaming sessions is the rule of thumb.

If you played enough Steam indie titles so far, you’ll recognise Art of Gravity as being Unity-powered, right from its launch menu. What’s a certainty to me in such fortunate cases, is the stability which Unity Engine provides to all titles which feature its assets. While it isn’t by any means a pretentious game, Art of Gravity does looks great and I really enjoyed its minimal looks mixed with the voxel-style. You won’t have any trouble running this title, even on an older PC or low-end laptop.

The soundtrack is severely limited but the sound effects are balancing that issue out, at least partially. I’d still recommend you listen to any tracks you might prefer and simply mute the repetitive tunes from in-game. Your choice, as always.

Art Of Gravity might lack a story or sound diversity, yet its gameplay is the perfect combination of eye candy and seemingly-simple puzzle design. I assure you that this is not the case. Sporting 75 levels of increasing complexity, you’ll definitely learn to play efficiently as you spend more time with it. The dev team prides itself on the fact that players are left to discover the gameplay mechanics by themselves. I guess, it’s part of the charm. Even the title screen appears after you’ve complete the first level quite out of the blue. Or purple to be more exact.

Colors play an important role and are used to distinguish between the several types of “materials” you’ll need to break apart with the balls you control. The spheres in question can be set on predetermined trajectories (collision courses, more likely) and Art of Gravity’s ultimate goal is to smash through the colored blocks, until they crumble to small pieces which fall from suspension. I might have phrased this more complicated than it truly is. In any case, it won’t be straightforward since various “walls” or block types can take multiple ball collisions until they are finally crumbling.

The bonus objective on some levels (and prerequisite for unlocking some of the game’s Achievements) is to crush all the blocks with as few balls as possible. You’ll be saving only one, in most cases. And even then it shall take some creative thinking, not to mention patience. You probably knew already, that puzzle games shouldn’t be treated with haste. Half of the fun is just the part where you figure them out. The rest is reserved, just for watching it play out. Seeing those small, colored pixels crumble and fall from considerable height, it reminded me of the late Lionhead Studios’ Black & White 2 logo.

Sad pandas right now, eh? Much like the (proper) god game genre itself, interactive logos are also a thing of the past.

Art Of Gravity wasn’t discounted so far, mainly because it is more than decently priced. If you’re still uncertain, wait for a bundle offer perhaps. I have no idea if the game’s lacking Trading Cards because the developer didn’t implement them, or if Valve is enforcing their new policy on these Cards and no new games receive them until they sold a certain number of copies. I do hope they shall surface for this title eventually. For now, collectors shall have to contend with Steam Achievements.

Great little puzzle game. Loved the graphics and music - very soothing. Some levels make you think for a bit but overall not too hard. Ideal for a casual puzzlegamer.

This feels more like a school project than a commercial game. Most of the puzzles were trivial and the not trivial ones weren't very clever or satisfying. The controls really slow down the player in solving the puzzles especially moving pieces around which makes solving puzzles a chore.

What a great game! Visually and aurally pleasing, so much fun to break stuff. Overall it's quite easy, however new mechanics come with a pacing that it's always interesting. Casual at its finest!

Use the Balls to SMASH the Blocks!

This is probably the best looking puzzle game I have seen, the lighting and effects of the falling voxels when you smash the blocks are beautifully done.

I would like to see a menu for selecting the level rather than scrolling through to find the one you want and the lack of Steam Trading Cards is a shame as I am sure the backgrounds earned from badges could be well worth having.

It would be good to see more levels as I was just really enjoying the challenge. Having said that, the levels did get dificult enough to give a good sense of sattisfaction when completed and one or two managed to really get me thinking for a few minutes. To be fair the developer does give an honest time in his description but take your time and enjoy the graphics and the marvelous physics and it will give you at least a couple hours of real enjoyment.

Overall a great little game, very sattisfying to play and well worth the price!!

This game is a little puzzle game that based on physics, somewhat alike to Zup series, but with more brain. Just like previous games from the same devs, it's balanced and well designed. Gameplay about 2 hours, difficulty from easy to challenge, introducing new mechanism step by step, smooth learning curve. I'm quite surprised this game is so unnoticed because this devs' previous games all have thousands of reviews which are overwhelmingly positive. It's totally worth 1 dollar if you like simplism puzzle game.

Great puzzle game. It starts out easy enough then goes to brain bending difficulty. 11/10 would play again.
