Why can't I put anything down?
Any time I try to put something down, most notably the finished plate in the steak tutorial, it's as if I slammed it onto the counter and the food goes everywhere......I don't want to be an angry cook....

Hi Duurti,

Being an angry cook is not a good thing indeed. Please join our Discord server to learn from more experienced players on how to become a master chef. Here is the invite:

To actually answer your question, unlike the devs suggestion.
All you have to do to drop an item instead of throwing them, is hold SHIFT while holding the object and press the same button that normally throws it.

Thanks!

I did find out afterward that once you start playing the game putting things down normally works pretty much fine. The shift trick is great for precise control for sure. It seems my issue was only seen in the tutorial. No matter what I did in the tutorial every dish I put down went flying.

Now I still get fun (ie stupid and annoying but I'm trying to enjoy the game anyway) little things like....every time I pick up a plastic bowl the tomato soup ingredients fall on the floor, but never anything else I have in it or other bowls. Or I sometimes bump into the fridge after garnishing plates and some of the food falls into a black hole somewhere. I mean if this were my kitchen, I wouldn't be hiding the herbs behind that fridge in the first place.....any chance for a redesign feature?

Hey Duurti
Could you post your saves and logs from the game so we could look into the weird physics in tutorial.

I couldn't reproduce this bug, do you mean that tomatoes can fall through the plastic bowl or cooked tomato soup?

And about the fridge, we currently are not planning on changing the kitchen layout too much but I will let the designers know about your suggestion.

Thanks for the response!

I didn't save during the tutorial, but I can try running it again.

As for the bowl, yes, I was keeping the ingredients at hand in a bowl, and when I take the bowl from the counter to bring to the pot everything in it (8 tomatoes and one onion) ends up on the floor. Not like they scattered or anything, but in a nice pile as if they were still in the bowl.

And the fridge was mostly tongue in cheek, I've since just been more vigilant when moving around that area. The real issue was some ingredients were on the floor to be picked up (my diners aren't picky) but in all but one instance the protein was no where to be found.

On a secondary note.....the plastic bowl is quite handy for prep, but I can't pour ingredients directly from it into a pot. When I try, the bowl shows up very high on the screen that I can only see the bottom portion of it. It would be super handy and time saving to be able to pour directly from the bowl into the pot instead of having to click each individual item and move. That's not how any real kitchen works!!

All in all though, great game so far. I almost feel like it's work but also play and it's taking up a lot of my time lately!

About the bow; we will try to adjust the 'pouring height' for it, at the moment changing FOV could somewhat help with that issue.
And here is a small hint about quick picking up object to container: You can scroll up, while your mouse is over some ingredient, to increase your pick up range. The more ingredients are highlighted, the more objects you are able to pick up at the same time.

And thanks for the feedback, we will use it to improve the game as much as we can.
