1. have a spatula in your hand
2. click either on a food item or on the container (a pan, griddle). clicking on a container allows to enter an easier context mode.

Sometimes while flipping things if you lower your spatula too low everything it touches goes flying. It has screwed up my game multiple times now. I have been stuck on this tutorial for an hour now.

yep got that, its just very hard to flip often piece goes on the side or falls off, or you knock everything in the path....auto flip would be nice after certain exp points.

It takes practice but you'll get it. However a word of warning? I find the pork chops have a sort of strange difficulty to them. It might be just me... but...

Perhaps they're conspiring against us. Everything else flips fine with a bit of work, but those pesky pork chops...

Maybe they know we're going to eat them...?

I had to comment because my spatula literally punted my pork chop away and I can't find it. I had to restart a dish because my chop wouldn't flip correctly!

Use spatula. Click on the meat in the pan. Then when you have meat on the spatula, click on the pan and it will zoom closer and by the shadow of the spatula decide when to flip it. Easy. I think you just have to move it a small bit up and right and flip the spatula to the left. Meat should drop nicely somewhere in the middle.

I'm having trouble flipping the burger as well, I'm on a laptop and using the touchpad is difficult to flip it over

We strongly suggest playing with a mouse! :)

I am disabled but I setup my controller and now can do things easier, just did the tutorial and about to start my first game...Time to burn some clients food haha

Get the hot hands perk and get rid of the spatula. So much easier to flip with your greasy mitts!

Flipping with a mouse is really easy if you "enter context" of the pan, grill, griddle, etc once you have picked up your item on the spatula. After struggling with it for a few minutes at the beginning of the game, I haven't even had to think twice about flipping something. I just pick it up with the spatula, enter context of whatever it's cooking on, hold down mouse button and flick the mouse to the left or right. Perfect flip every time.

Yea this had me put off for the first few hours of the game. I suggest going into sandbox or something and just practicing with it for a while. I've gotten used to it now and it's no longer an issue. I also recommend practicing pouring soup and chopping potatoes and lemons. Get these things down and it'll make your life easier. I also recommend not getting any new recipes until the game suggests you to get a new one, although this function of the game has a bug where it might suggest a recipe you already have and you'll lose the day's progress. ALWAYS SAVE BEFORE THE END OF YOUR SHIFT!!!

Enter context is a must, and remember whenever you're dropping anything, either with the spatula or when using shift mode, use the shadow it casts as your target.

Thanks for all the tips @everyone! Keep having fun out there while we work on further improvements!

Take care,
