Decorating cookies and cupcakes

Is there any way to frost cookies and cupcakes that doesn't include walking over to the frosting with a pallet knife and going back and forth like that for each single cookie/cupcake? Can I not load up my pallet knife with like 8 loads of frosting with a perk so I can bang them out all at once?
