No sound (through motherboard soundcard)

Hello!

I seem to have an issue that no one else is experiencing and that is the total lack of any sound when using my motherboards sound-card, ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero.

Sliders are all maxed out, sound works in every single out game I have, Windows, browser etc. So I tried routing the sound to my screen to bypass the motherboard and I do get sound out of my screens speakers.

I tried disabling the screen as an audio device to force any playback device to go through the sound-card on the motherboard. in case there is some internal preference that is not controllable via the settings, but this is the only game/application does flat out refuses to play any sounds when not using the screens speakers.

Any ideas?
