Say that after failing 5 times in a row, after devoting 6+ hours on each attempt. And no, there was no option to make the game impossible to lose back then.

As I said "I replayed the start of the game alot because of it." :)

And I think I also said, that I would not mind making it a little easier (making mastering the system more important on higher difficulty levels). What I mean is: Don't make the game easier by taking all choices (and complexity) away.

I won't buy a D&D or Pathfinder Game to get an adventure game, where you have to click every X-seconds to show, that you are still awake.

Nope, i agree. But then again... the game as it is doesn't follow the rules in a honest way anyway.

You encounter more monsters than you would in pen and paper, the monsters are BUFFED at normal difficulty, and you still have time constraints and a rest system very faithful to the pen and paper system.

It is a "video gamey" system that creates an artificial difficulty. Challenge Rating (by rules, not by concept) is completely bonkers in the encounters you make.

In a real pen and paper game you would not meet a gazillion monsters buffed by the DM expecting you to kill them and then sleep in the dungeon 30 times by bringing with you 100kg of supplies.

Monster placement and choice must be revisited, by making the player encounter few powerful enemies and more fodder ones, or just less enemies altogether.

Unless you are of the opinion than in a pen and paper faithful game you must exterminate a hundred CR 20 enemies with your ECL 15 character.

I hope you see my point.

If whomever programmed the survey reads this thread, just a little SurveyGizmo tip: if you click on the little pencil at the right of an answer, in the "Advanced option settings" column, you can then selection the option "Fixed Position (with Piping and Randomization)". This way, you can fix the position of "Other - Write In" options at the end of the survey.

I am definitely with you on this. I also hate the artificial difficulty. But if I may ask, what difficulty were you playing on? I assume that has a reasonable impact on the matter (haven't played the game too much).

Thank you for this.

I hope you are able to update some of the tips for new players to help them understand some of the game mechanics better.

However, please don't go overboard. The discovery of how the game works is part of the game- and 2019 the internet is just how people play games looking at guides, youtube videos, etc. As long as it isn't mandatory (which it is not) then it's fine.

Thanks for the great game. I love pathfinder kingmaker!!!

Someone else mentioned in this thread: On character build screen BAB progression is not present. This i think is an issue that should be fixed very easily. Whether bab is 1/2, 3/4, or 1.

Only really didn't like the final fight. It was incredibly difficult and frustrating when the rest of the game had been balanced well up to that point. Hope my replies helped.

Challenging / normal. For about 90% of the game. THen i had enough of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and dropped the difficulty to zero just to end the game.

Could have won leaving the difficulty on normal/challenging, and i rmake the last fight on that difficulty setting for principle...

But i was really tired and annoyed, it was not a real difficulty you could find in games like dark souls, it was just a gazillion enemies with debuffs and special conditions and crap like that.

It was simply boring, i wanted it to end as soon as possible. Then as i said i did the final fight on proper difficulty because i wanted the satisfaction but... a game like this should not be boring or annoying.

Yeah I think I'll just drop the difficulty to normal when I come back to the game. This is literally the only game I've played in the past 5 years that's had me do that. The added difficulty above Normal just feels artificial and irritating rather than rewarding, and I honestly don't think it has anything to do with the Pathfinder ruleset. As someone else has mentioned in this thread, the encounters you meet would be really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard even for a tabletop Pathfinder campaign. So I believe the issue is about not managing to adapt those tabletop rules to a balanced video game experience.

Its sadly really really hard to learn for someone who never had a connection to an pNp before.^^
I actually prefer to play the D&D 5e System cuz its easy to learn (and teach) and deep enoight for years of fun. Would love to see Pathfinder 2e closer to that as well. And really..Care the balance. Playing mage is absoloutly broken in kingmaker.. :D

I took the survey, a nice initiative, but what exactly are the developers trying to find out with the question of ranking the games by the time spent? Because one of the games I spent the greatest amount of hours in is Fallout 4, but as a story-driven RPG it's a dreadful game.

Why not just rank them by preference?

Thanks for the survey!

Please note though that some of us haven't played for some time so some answers are based strictly on what we remember from the game or past games we played (eg. ranking so many games by playing time is next to impossible)

I did stop because I felt I couldn't experience the full game since I had the kingdom management on auto
(had no clue what I should be doing and game hid everything from us when set on auto.. that was a big mistake imo since auto could easily be a tutorial by watching how the computer handled management)

Nevertheless, I'd love to see if any changes can be made so I can get back to the game.
I think you can change back to non auto with a mod called Kingdom Resolution.
