7-8 level is more then enough on Normal. All you need is good party and understand power of buffs.
"Get gud" is what you mean? Maybe...
I got this Hat at level 6 and have been enjoying it ever since. I was insta wiped by the Linnorm at level 6 and have not come back to try again. I'm playing with increased difficulty, normal didn't seem right to me.The monster level is CR14, but yeah, my main is now strong enough to have cleared the Verdant Chambers solo on level 7, so that Linnurm could maybe also be killed now. But it feels more rewarding to get the Hat on earlier levels anyways, sneak stealing feels so clever.
Well, this don't actually change anything - we can hard counter all that Linnorm can throw on us around level 7 (at worse at 9 with access to Stoneskin). I'm vague on purpose - it isn't topic about killing him (plus it's very easy to find his weakness & how counter his strong sides).
Buffs and summons are... strong. Very strong :)
Since you have less slots than in the Tabletop, you need your head slot for +mental stats boost items.
My Rogue is wearing it and the boost is real. Rogues make so much good use from having all skills +2. Also my rogue has low strength, since he is dexterity based, so this helps not being encumbered all the time.
But if I'm the only one who found this useful, then I might aswell delete this "hint" and never write one again.
Even for pure fighter +WiIl is more important then encumbrance & skills.
Especially when bard can boost skills with her song (+competence too, so don't stack).
Don't, it's easy 4k gold early in game so worth mention.
But i find a very poor reward for a very strong enemy, not your fault at all.
I just went there and was able to down the Linnorm on party level 8 on challenging difficulty on my 3rd attempt. I just wasn't able to kill it, most likely cold iron is needed, it's immune to fire and it wasn't killed from electricity or acid. Didn't bring cold iron or cold weapon, but surely you must have cold iron, since it also regenerates which can usually be stopped with cold iron.
I still like the Hat.
It's very food idea to always have it. Why? Because of fey. And as you know our baron have ... problems with at least one fey lady ;)
I managed to wipe all monsters from that fey verdant chamber encounter and got no follow up quest, hope she will be back later for more fun.
Count for passing DR, not for disabling regeneration.
Still, even if it's implemented you will get a lot of fey & primal enemies before able to get more then one-two +3 weapons (game clearly not count modified enhancement bonus to bypass DR, as at least some homerules do).
