Unable to load dlc
Saves for both the main game and the dlc adventures say "dlc required" deal owning the dlc and having had to do so in order to create the saves in the first place. I have reinstalled the game several times, but it only ever solved the problem for the first time playing the game after reinstalling once.

I have see similar issue when using a 'bad' custom portrait. Not sure what is bad about them but is it something you have done?

I have not messed with the game files in any way, be that with modding or custom portraits. It began sometime after a more recent update after the enhanced edition update.

There is that guy who was able to fix it by installing the game into shorter pathway >>>

i wonder if the problem was resolved for the OP, i encounter the exact same problem with the DLC which do not work properly.
I've reinstalled the game, validated the files the files a number of times, check and unchecked the DLC both on the game page et on the DLC tab, so far to no avail. I did manage to get some of the DLC working after my reinstallation, but i never got to find the new companion, she never showed up in the throne room despite a message warning me that i had a visitor...And like the OP pointed out, "it only ever solved the problem for the first time playing the game after reinstalling once"

Thanks for your help.

sorry for the lack of further responses. changing the file path for all steam games one step up in the file system served to fix the issue of the dlc not loading.

No need to apologize ! I was not looking forward to reinstalling the game, seems it might be the only solution...How exactly do you change the file path ?

its been just a little while since i did it, so it might not be entirely assuming the system youre using has only one drive, its going to be a bit of a pain. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129 < this was the article I used to manage it, but it might need a bit of finagling to get it to work as intended. that said, I will reaffirm that changing the file path did work.

Just bought the game, can't get it to recognize the DLC
Bought the Imperial edition on steam, installed everything, boot it up and it says that "you don't own this scenario yet" for the DLC. I've checked the DLC page in my libary: everything is ticked and says "Installed". I've tried reinstalling, verifying the files, etc.

I've googled this problem but all the solutions I've found deal with mods. I JUST bought this game, and it's not working on a fresh install.

I don't exactly know why some peoples is having this issue but you will be able to fix it by installing the game in a shorter pathway.

Use F11 in game to report it.
