It should be noted, though, that doing this appears to be bugged. In my case, at least, dueling Armag without getting caught by the Defaced Sisters results in the duel getting stuck and being unable to proceed with the quest. The onyl way I could proceed was to let Amiri get caught, but even that seems to be bugged a bit.
When Amiris solo section starts use potion of invisibility and any skill boosters to sneak around the camp.
So, either a bug, or intended to always fail; hard to tell sometimes with this game. Not sure if failing this blocks Blood Calling as noted above (Blood Calling was horribly bugged anyway on my last abandoned playthrough, so I couldn't say either way), but if so, then Amiri's companion quest is impossible to complete, by effective design.
As it stands, I see this quest as glitched and disappointing. No matter what you do, it comes down to a Persuasion check? I don't see why my invisibility potion shouldn't be enough to get in.
The first few times I did this all worked as per many here describe.
Edit : The first few playthroughs up to this point.
Currently there is some form of bug for sure but it dont disturb in anyway, the cut scenes is just cut off and you find ourself beaten to pulp by Armag.
Its possible some kind of fix since earlier, you actually got a quest failed for Amiri and maybe some was confused what happened and reloaded and tried to actually defeat Armag.
So anyway all is good but yes she gets ported and beaten up and it looks weird but it literally does same thing as what used to happen and should happen anyway.
I reloaded and tried a few times until I let it go.
Since I have done this specific fight 3, 4 times before on other play throughs I knew what would happen so for it all was good but for someone on their first time I can understand they want to check if its a bug.
This is true I didnt think about this one.
I forgot about that quest but have done it earlier on other play throughs.
So yes I can confirm you dont get this done but I can also confirm she is still there when you reforge your sword so its not breaking the narrative or progression of later quests, you just dont get the cut scenes and the talking.
if u get caught u dont get to challenge him...if u can make it to the two people nilak and durgath without being caught u will get to kill a sister and then have the option to challenge armag...the fight is very similiar to that of valarie against the paladin guy...regardless u dont get to 'win' if u lose u get tied up...if u are winning u get held by an 'unseen' person or persons and tied up...however u do save nilak from getting dead...
even if u challenge armag u will 'fail' the challenge armag part of the quest chain (no idea why)...but the rest of the chain plays out and u will link up with group once they get to amiri...and as i said nilak and durag live
best way to get to armag tent is to move the obstacles aside when u first enter the barb camp (low perception roll to notice them)...then proceed north and stay away from the "old barbarian" and any sisters still alive...from the northern part of the camp u will have to cross a path that a sister walks on...wait for her to head back into armag part of camp...cross over...keep heading south and head to the area of camp behind the southern tents where u will see some wolves...make a low perception check to notice the stuff u can move out of the way and when u move it the wolves agro...easy to kill them...then follow southern route till it opens into armags section of camp...from there make ur way to the sister guarding/killing nilak and durgath...after u kill her u get to challenge armag
Just so you know, when you get to the House at the Edge of Time, Amiri won't come back to you if you failed the Nilak quest.
So yeah, this bit sucks.
Spoilers ahead (move mouse over black cubicles):
<> First of all, you need to get Amiri to Armag's tent without being caught. There are multiple alternatives of how to achieve that. In front of Armag's tent you will find another Defaced Sister opposing Dugath and Nilak.
<> Next, you have to approach the Defaced Sister, which will inevitably end up in duel with Armag. On higher difficulty settings, this fight is really tough. So buff Amiri before you approach the sister.
I recommend an Aid potion (+HP) and a Barkskin potion (+4 natural armor). During the fight, use Displacement potions (enemy misses 50%) when necessary.
<> You cannot kill Armag. Either Armag beats the hell out of you, which is a plain straight failure, with negative consequences later on.
<> If Amiri fights really well, then you may make it to the point where you are just about to beat Armag (low health bar). A Defaced Sister is scripted to show up and intervene with a hold person spell on Amiri. Armag will yell "Who dares defile the sanctity of the duel?!". This is the best possible outcome for this fight and will enable important companion quest options later on.
<> Whatever you do, in Linzi's quest journal, the quest stage "Challenge Armag" is intended to fail by game design. This is no bug, and there does not exist any exploit to avoid this result.
