Use acid/fire to stop it from regenerating.

I get that, but after 5 characters are beating on him and he is only regenerating for 5 hp shouldnt he die???

Agreed. I'm doing FAR more damage than he's regenerating in a round, and he's just lying there.

Thats just how Trolls work in D&D/Pathfinder. You have to use fire/acid or they won't die.

Yup, not a bug, trolls are immortal due to their innate regeneration - much like T-1000 you can chop them into itty bitty pieces and they'll just knit themselves back together in time. And the answer is the same : kill it with fire ! :) Once they're down and out, even 1 point of fire/acid damage will kill them.

If you haven't encountered trollhounds yet, this also applies to them; beat them forever and don't kill them, but get even one hit in with an everburning torch while they're down? Chunks everywhere :D.

Spent 5 minutes beating the same trolls up. Even submitted a bug report. Then noticed the same thing was happening at the troll fortress and looked up the "bug." Well, sheet.
Just use Coup de grace to kill it
