... Was I supposed to spare Nyrissa?
I usually opt to spare people when I can in these type of games. The exception is when they're so cartoonishly evil and one-dimension that sparing them seems like a bad idea.

When I finally reached Nyrissa she refused to talk and continuously monologue'd about how evil and unrepentant she is, even on the verge of death that's all she could do, so I killed her.

The death was unsatisfying, she just flopped over, no description of her face or any last words from her. So that was lame.

The supposed bond between you two that they talked about before never came up, all that talk about how she could be redeemed never came up, the whole dream sequence never came up, you can't even talk about some of the specific things she did that might've pissed you off or made you think she could change.

So, I can only assume that the game expected me to spare Nyrissa. And that, if I did, all of the above would be touched on in the future. But since I killed her, all of that is just dropped. Am I wrong? Or is there some semblance of satisfying character arc for her in the final chapter, should you choose to spare her?

Nyriss is an interesting case study of villains in video games.

She wasn't naturally evil, she was forced into it by a curse. However, that curse also affects her emotions and empathy so they are dimmed but not lost. She hates what her life has become and wants it to end but can't bear the thought of dying.

She knows she is not innocent because she had committed so many atrocities but at the same time she does not enjoy it and it causes her pain. She just sees it as a stepping stone to ending her curse and she had to distance herself emotionally to do what needed to be done to break her curse.

She both deserves death and redemption and an argument can be made either way. I don't think we're supposed to do anything. This is a game that lets you be as good or evil as you want to be.

Honestly I couldn't give less of a damn by the end of the game. The acts where she was involved or any quest related to her were tedious and boring. I understand that in the past things happened and she isn't entirely to blame, but with how she is now, I just can't help absolutely despising her. Everything she says is filled with narcissism, conceit, treachery and so on. Slaughering her like the animal she is, was one of the most satisfying moments in gaming for me. Her falling down like a sack of ♥♥♥♥ just confirmed to me that she is nothing more than exactly that.
