That was an interesting quest
The one I'm referring to is "Deal with the Devil." I get that they're doing a third wall satire sort of deal, which kind of surprised me with how good most of the other quest/stories are in this game.

Specifically calling out bad GMs/DMs with railroading players(illusion of choice, big ingame penalties if you don't follow a narrow path, etc), obvious DMPC(Darven, that guy was probably the most obvious DM character I've ever seen in any RPG, with all of the ingame fawning over him and his story to some pretty insane powers and abilities that make him almost godlike to his unexplained favore with a Duke of Hell), and some confusing dialogue motivations(I think Linzia started off as Lawful Evil and went straight to Chaotic stupid for the rest of the quest line).

I feel like this might have been poorly designed since you're forced into it and it kind of breaks you out of the immersion if you're doing a serious playthrough. What did everyone else think?

I liked that both were killable, but the lack of player's agency at the beginning (I could not arrest Linzia or Darven) and Linzia's descend to Chaotic Stupid were disappointing.

Yeah. And we get forced into a fight with Linxia at the lodge no matter what. And her words to the player at the end of her quest are beyond stupid. "Hey I'm in the middle of your kingdom, but I'm going to raise an army to conquer you after saving my butt in that fight just now."

I refuse to believe an iconic villain would have been written as that dumb and straightforward in the Pathfinder game. Much less a knight commander in the service of Asmodeus, the devil prince of subterfuge and manipulation.

Fun bit of trivia: according to the TV Tropes page for "Kingmaker," Darven and his quest were created and written by a Kickstarter backer who pledged $4,000. Make of that what you will.
