Weird the guy betrays you with your worst enemy and people are ok with that
But but... hes sweet and nice and kind and my councilor and my best friend and I told him I will do anything to keep him by my side...
Who's my worst enemy btw? That poor girl that got taken advantage of? HANG ON! IM COMING TO HELP!
seriously thought I think quite a few people spare him.
Yeah, pretty sure majority of people spare him :D Plus honestly, he is much cooler with blindfold on. Seriously, its cool blindfold, I'm actually bit relieved he doesn't take it off even after he gets his deva powers back.
I find it hilarious when he gets the perception check.
he's supposed to be. there's a condition there... I dont remember exactly but I did see that he's gpt it on his character sheet.
It's like Zevran in the original Dragon Age. It's very hard to justify letting an enemy assassin join your party minutes after he tried to kill you. But I bet very few players took the 'slit his throat' option.
Tabletop wise its kinda depends on the party(both composition and personality) and whether Tristian would be a player character or party npc. Like, party npc wise players know metawise that since he isn't ex cleric he is genuinely sorry so they might actually keep him around especially if they need healer(especially if nobody of party members wanted to be a healer :D)
But yeah, Zevran is good example of companion you recruit purely out of meta knowledge that he is a companion. Well I guess he is pretty charming but still :D
He was lucky that he worked for such a forgiving deity. Many others would have turned their backs on him, and he likely would have ended up in a much worse state.
Honestly ... even after he took the eye from Vordikai I honestly thought he must've had some misguided reason for doing so. After the report of his sighting at Candlemere and found the guy I left guarding the portal dead. I thought he must've had a damn good reason to do something against his character.
When I found him in the chamber with the witch faceless sister... I thought he must've gotten tricked or possessed. Once all the dust settled and killed that witch I spoke to him... He kept talking and the more he talked the more angry I got. Tristan was playing everyone from the start.
I got the party to leave the room, took off my PC's sword... Beat his ass to a pulp with bare hands. My PC is not even skilled in unarmed combat (he is a magus) so Tristan had to get punched for a hot minute.
Story wise I had a high opinion of him ... He had it coming
