Oh my it was a long time ago.
But with a reliable archer, wands, spells, and perhaps one melee character next to him you can prevent him from casting.
Still a tough fight. because of the adds but a manageable fight.
Yeah so you get probably attacks of opportunity by his frontline in addition to the fireballs.
Well i don't know, bracuse the last time i played the main campaign was probably 2 years ago. But rushing him doesn't work. You need to buff up, and stop him from casting. That is what i still remember.
In turn based, you can control or kill him before he acts though it's less reliable. High Initiative ranged Sneak Attack is a good way though. If you can't kill him fairly reliably, you might want to think about improving your group composition to save yourself headaches later on.
