I probably would have reloaded if Bokken died, though, as he's involved in later quests and a masterpiece potion that boosts all stats permanantly.
If you wanted, you could still use the Bag of Tricks mod to spawn a new version of Bokken and he should work just like the old one.
At first I was just playing like it was tabletop, sucking consequences up, but I then I went the route "I can fix this" since I lost the extra quests.
The mod worked perfectly, Bokken just gave quests like he wasn't ever dead.
Usually in Bag of Tricks, there's more than 1 version of an npc you can spawn. Possibly another would have the shop inventory? Not sure as I've never actually spawned a shopkeeper npc, only companions. or rarely a questgiver.
