Paladin Tank Build Question
So I've been wanting to get back into the game and you know... finish it for once at least, and I know what I want to be a Paladin but I can't seem to find a guide or anything on the image I have in my head. I want one hand (Mace or Sword) and shield but I keep seeing the same "Paladin build" but its really just a monk with paladin abilities and a one handed monk weapon no shield.

Now I'll admit I plan on running on easy up tell I get to the point where I quit and switch to normal but would a pure paladin build... work?

Yep. A pure Paladin is an excellent class to play. All those builds you’ve looked at do indeed work too, but are not needed on anything less than challenging.

Stats vary by race of course, but for a human I’d pick 17str, 13 dex, 14con, 10 int, 10 wis, 16 cha.
Put all level up stats into str.

My main it a Paladin Divine guardian. I use mace and flail as main weapon set. Bow for range set and Glaive for reach weapon set.
I balance almost all stats except int. who not needed. With a belt and headband of perfection you got pretty decent stat. On character creation stop when it cost 3 ability point for improve. Like 15 str., 13 dex, 14 con, 10 int, 14 wis, 15 cha. Replace the headband later with the crown.
I made an elf so my dex. it a little more. Im on chapter 4 I use the ring of security(spell resistance), ring of evasion, amour of the wealth(dr\-5), Shroud of Abaddon(Elemental resistance 15). Im tanking well with defensive feat like thoughness, shield focus, missile shield, dodge, armor focus.
Divine weapon are pretty strong you can add thing like speed, keen, fire, disruption, holy to any weapon you use.
Divine Guardian get bonus defensive feats to choose from and cant cast spell it a little like a fighter.
Hospitallier can be a better choice and it more like a standard Paladin but you got powerfull aura against fear and death plus you can cast spell. Immunity to death it really powerfull even more for the main tank.
Im even thinking of respec my paladin to Hospitalier but Divine Guardian do the job well too.
