There are 6 levels of fear (https://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/other-rules/fear/) and the spell only suppresses the effects (does not remove) of levels 1 (spooked) & 2 (shaken) of fear but not Panicked or higher. It also gives you the +4 to saving throw and this is very useful since characters get a another save attempt to totally remove the effect each turn.
Put another way, Remove Fear will give a saving throw bonus to panicked bit will not suppress it. It SHOULD suppress Shaken & will give the +4 at future attempts to actually remove it.
Is the suppression working as intended? That I do not know but it should unless the dev team botched it.
Then Remove fear doesn't remove fear. It suppresses fear. That's not the same thing, you are still affected by the condition, but you don't take the malus into account while remove fear is active.
What it removes however is the cause fear lv1 spell effect, and only that spell (no other fear effect).
About the name, it's called remove fear, because it's a "remove" spell (like remove desease, remove curse, remove blindness etc.), the remove spells counter a specific spell in addition of their normal effect (which is usually a +4 to resist the same kind of effect). remove spells are a type of abjuration spell that use caster level and not DC (same as dispels).
I can remove confused with Heal. But frightened, panicked, shaken, I dunno nothing man. lol
It was a massive and long fight with the Misbegotten troll, finally pulled it off.
Although Remove Fear doesn't remove fear, I thought it suppressed the frightened effect (running around with no control) when cast on someone already frightened. In turn-based though, I vaguely remember still not having full control but on its turn, the character would act normally (i.e., close towards enemy and attack).
Wow great to know that about Greater Heroism and HI. Thanks.
Hey, btw, any idea how to get Greater Heroism with Cleric? I'm trying different builds, adding great spell focus to enchanments and cannot seem to find or get it. Hmmm
I'm at lvl 16, with I believe lvl 8 or 9 spells. Thank you.
The other spell will leave me fatigued and I don't think I can rest in the first world while doing this act.
PS> NVM, it's a bard and wizard/sorceress that can get it, not cleric, mixed up the too.
Last thing, do you think if I add extend spell it will extend the duration of this spell? I should go research all this...
Yes, the extend metamagic feat should work, but that's be difficult for heroic invocation (ninth level spell already). However, some spells (such as prayer) are bugged for extend spell, so it might not work. If it's not bugged, greater extend metamagic rods would work (or normal extend rods for greater heroism).
There is an item in Irovetti's Palace that can cast Heroic Invocation once per day. It's a weapon, and even if you don't want to use it, all you need to have is someone that can temporarily wield it. Cast the spell (10 minutes per caster level level, so it'll last around 3 hours), then switch to whatever weapon you want.
Great info man.
