Do you have to die in Beneath the Stolen Lands to progress the same run with a new character?
As the title asks: is death a prerequisite? I tried just starting a new character without deliberately suiciding my old one, but apparently I was starting over from scratch...

If you are doing it as a roguelike I think you need to talk to the dragon after you've gone all the way through and them start a knew party immediately but I am not absolutely certain.

What exactly is "all the way through"?
I wanted to do a new character to progress the same run, so to speak... because I read that there are only so many key boss items per character run... and my current character is on level 55 and hasn't seen any key items in ages.
Will I get to start over if I reach level 100 or whatever the last level is?

Sorry my understanding is that it is all but impossible to get all the way through in one play through on the rogue like, You play until you hit a road block which you can't get passed and go talk to the dragon And leave certain quest specific items for your next party. And then they in essence start over picking up the items you left behind and try to find more. Not my cup of tea which is why I stopped a DL 10

So... I have to find the right dialogue option with the Dragon? Okay. I'll try that.

You can get your party killed or just leave the map by following the path left of the dragon. Then you start a new game, import your save game and all your questitems can be found on the small roundtable.

Turns out my plan to try talking to the dragon was a bust anyway. On the next floor I walked into a golem's Prismatic Spray and just snuffed it on the spot.

You do need to do multiple runs to get all the keys. Also, the farthest I have ever gotten is around level 65 where the game engine falls apart trying to handle the amount/size of monsters and massive spell effects.

I literally could not enter rooms because of the spam of enemies and would just cast multiple AOE DOT and just go get some coffee while it took 10-20 minutes to resolve.

Sorry about that.

There is a reason only .9% have the achievement for finishing that campaign, only 1.2 have made it to 30.

Yeah, I noticed the lag. It was getting ridiculous. I tried changing the graphical settings at first but that didn't help at all. Past Floor 50 I was averaging about 5 to 7fps.

Well now... after struggling to Floor 100 through 1fps lag in the hopes of running into another boss... and not finding one... I decided to leave.
And ONLY THEN.... did I get this message:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3167064631

So... only one Boss per run. Fixed.
Nobody mentioned this.
None of the guides mentioned this.
WHY?! I think this would have been a vitally important thing to mention. It would have saved hours of my life. Many hours.

Didnt know this message only shows if you leave the map via the path, it's been quite a time since i started this dlc. But true, the mechanics and what you need to do in this dlc are poorly explained. I wasted many hours as well because of this.

There are mini 4 bosses, starting to show from dungeonlevel 10 (or 15? don't know for sure) and then every 5 levels after, that is 15, 20, 25 but only one boss encounter per run. Once you killed one, restart by leaving the map. Each mini boss has a special item he can drop (the last boss encouter is a pair and each will drop a ring, don't forget to get both as i did the first time). Once you got all five special items (one from the first three bosses each, two from the last boss pair) you can talk to the dragon and trigger the final fight. You should level your party up around level 15 before trying this fight. The higher your Level the better though.

But, each special item will only drop if you have gathered the four corresponding items for that boss, obtained by killing mobs in the dungeon. As far as i know there is no limit on how many you can find of these in a single run but you seldom get more then two and only if you are lucky. Most likely you will get one per run. Once you found the four items and killed the corresponding boss, he will drop the special item. I dont know if you need to have the items in your inventory for the boss to drop its item but i did, just to be sure.

The items you need are
Boss 1 Weary Traveller: interview, mug, diary, scribble of the weary traveller to get the shield of the weary traveller

Boss 2 Fallen Priestess: book of the fallen magus, vials of the fallen alchemist, map of the fallen fighter, letter of the fallen ranger to get the robe of the fallen priestess

Boss 3 the wicked chanter: rivel's unsent letter, bestiary of the tenebrous depths, ranger's diary, ranger's diary, the last page to get rivel's lullaby

Boss 4 the captor and the captive: student's copybook, the captor's diary, letter of the captive, the captor's death note to get the ring of the captor and the ring of the captive

Hope it helps

Okay... hold on.
I've done the DLC in the campaign already. Found all the items. Got the special ending. I know how the thing with the items and the boss drops works as far as the proper ending goes...
I'm doing it in Roguelike mode now. I know the special items drop from Minibosses now. They seem to be insanely rare, but I've collected a few of them. I've not got any full collections yet though, and I've killed 2 bosses without getting any special drops from them because I didn't have their item collection finished.

So... if I get what you're saying right, I have to just keep going through the dungeon over and over again with new characters, killing the bosses repeatedly until I happen to have collected all of their items from random miniboss RNG.... at which point I'll finally get the boss to drop their special item... and I have to do that for all the bosses?

One of the few halfway decent guides to the roguelike dungeon:

Okay. Cool.

Hmm....
That guide says the relic items can be anywhere.
Everything everyone else (and the guide on Steam) said suggested that the relic items drop from minibosses in roguelike mode... but that guide right there explicitly says they can be anywhere, and strongly suggests they could be in hidden chests or whatever...
So which is correct?

I've got quite a few, but to be honest I don't really pay attention when I'm looting because it would take too much time.
