Motivation for an archiologist not looking to be a hero (Or a Baron)
I'm curious what you all think would be a good motivation for playing an Archaeologist who's not here for the spotlight.
I'm really wanting to play this character as an Aasimar, she was told constantly by her mother She was born to do something great. But she just wants to be a normal girl.
She is someone who cares deeply about history of the mortal world, exploring new lands, and uncovering ancient mysteries, and has no want to be the hero.. But as the story goes on, she will be thrust into the role.

But why would she attend the meeting at the beginning of the game in the first place?
Does she need the money? Are the Stolen lands mostly unexplored? (I don't know much about the lore yet, but really want to learn.)

So help a girl out, with justifying my head cannon? Because I'm weird an that means a lot to me. XD

Setting: The Stolen Lands are mostly ungoverned, but not totally unexplored. Pockets of civilization and society exist in the form of outposts, camps, and small villages of varying races. While nominally a part of the nearby kingdoms, the remoteness and untamed nature of the Stolen Lands makes them seem a world apart. Evidence of older civilizations can be found throughout the land. The major power in the area at the beginning of the story is a bandit leader called the Stag Lord, who terrorizes the local population.

So your character's story could go something like this:

Archaeologist/explorer signs a mercenary contract as a scout/guide to a group of adventurers, their mission to explore the Stolen Lands and supplant the local bandit king for a neighboring lord. She is using the expedition as a vehicle to survey and catalog the local dwarven ruins/lizardmen tribes/ancient structures/magical places/whatever of the Stolen Lands. After the events at the Aldori mansion, her natural charisma and leadership make her the de facto leader of the group formed to fight the Stag Lord.

After defeating the Stag Lord, the group pushes her to take the role of Baroness, thrusting her into a position of undesired power. As a student of history, she sees the need for order and to bring civilization to the lawless Stolen Lands, No one else is jumping up to take responsibility. For the good of the local populace, she must do her best to make this newfound kingdom a place of peace and prosperity while fighting off threats to this fledgling society.
