But Amiri is terrible. Actually Harrim is kind of terrible too.
Amiri can be a true wrecker when used correctly. Give her 7 levels 2H fighter for 2X strength bonus and make sure to have a tank grab aggro and enemies vaporize under her attacks.
Harrim is also a killer when you bother to use correctly.
I've switched her into slayer or two handed fighter in a few campaigns, and she's alright in that regard. Especially with a reach weapon. She has a pretty mediocre stat spread for two handed user, and her default class isn't very good in comparison to other two handed classes. (Even including other barbarians)
Every other companion is actually good at what they do. Amiri and Harrim are objectively subpar at their roles in comparison to a merc character in a similar role.
No need to change her base class as you just multiclass. I see regularly see her do 100-200 points of damage per hit.
What is the obsession with companion stat spreads? No they are not min-maxed and no need to be to succeed in the game at any difficulty level.
I once did an entire playthrough that was to revolve around a Barbarian reducing enemy saves pouncing with the Tyrant flail while casters would one-shot them with a spell. The casters ended up doing very little while the Barb killed bosses with damage before they cast anything. And the Barb was my only melee, so I didn't even have anyone else tank for them.
Point being, they're really strong. You just need to address their survivability somehow, but there are multiple ways to do that. Now if we're talking about the Call of the Wild mod or WotR, Barbarians are comparatively worse because you suddenly have pounce options for any melee.
Also, to be clear: I was talking about multi-classing her into a slayer or two handed fighter. OP was asking about base class respecs. <<< Presumably to cut out the waste of weak levels of bad classes, like barbarian for Amiri.
Facts, I turned Harrim into a Bane-everything tank. Absolutely slaps anything...when he catches up to them cuz his stubby legs make him slow haha
