Any way to force normal attacks or prevent spellcasting for AI characters?

So I got Octavia in my party. She has high dex so I gave her a crossbow and the Hurricane Bow spell, but the only thing she does in a fight is spam Acid Splash, even after I manually cast Hurricane Bow. Automation options seem to be limited, as far as I can tell, but is there a way to nudge her into using normal attacks? I can't get rid of the Acid Splash spell, and I can't right click the normal attack to automate it.

You can turn off companion AI in the settings. That should work

I auto-use charge, right click on charge.

Charge doesn't work with range weapons, so it make her use her equipped weapon instead.

Any ability with zero charges or unusable abilty on autocast should prevent her from autocasting acid splash.
Note you will miss a lot more with bow, than with spells. since hitting 25 Full AC with +5 to hit means you hit only on 20, but acid splash will hit Touch AC which could be around 15, making it hit when you roll 10 or more.

All the damage in the world is worthless if you miss and spells cast by wizards are around twice as likely to hit than arrows or bolts fired by wizards because spells ignore armor, shields and natural armor (and natural armor is the most common source of Armor Class for monsters).

irrelevant, the man asked how to stop the auto acid attacks, the question must be respected

When you right click a spell to set it to auto cast, a little page/tab pops out on the left of the ability hotbar showing what is being auto'ed. If you right click acid splash once it will auto, right click it again to turn it off.
If she has no spells set to auto, then she will default to her equipped weapon attack.

She wont, its a known bug, turning charge on autocast however will make her use her default weapon

Use arcane trickster + acid splash. Its better.

Its not a bug.

And considering the number of people asking this question its a good thing they made it a feature.

you must be braindead then, its irrelevant which attack you think is the best, if i wanna auto attack with fists regardless of how dumb that is i should be able to do it with out the UI ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ me over

and we should discover which attack is the best by ourselves anyway, without any of this hard wired cancer

I still register my deep confusion that out of all the countless actual bugs and flaws with the AI that people could make complaints about, for some reason the only one that ever gets mentioned is AFAIK the literal whole one time the AI actually does the most correct and optimal thing.

because players dont care what the most "correct and optimal thing is" il make octavia a ranger or a monk if i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ want to, or a damn barbarian if i so desire

not everyone plays on cruel ffs
to impede on player choice in this manner is bigotry of the highest magnitude
its the players game not yours, nobody asked for your opinion of whats "optimal" if a player cared hed just google the answer

nobody likes having something forced down their throats, deal with it, accept it.
