Some CoW Mod Builds
I just started a new game with Call of the Wild mod and came up with some cool starter builds i wanted to share, just in case anyone strugles, they should be pretty strong as well.

Main Char:
Ranger-> New Hybrid Archetype: Feywarden/Divine Tracker
Info: It is a CHR based Ranger who gets Warpriest Blessings and also a few Bard spells but no Pet. Also gains acces to Trickery and Magic Device instead of Athletics and Mobility.
Why? It is perfect archeytpe for a heavy range DD playstyle which also brings trickery on the table + support - and roleplay wise it makes also sense if u want to play an attractive MC like an Elf becaus CHR instead of WIS.

Valerie:
You can choose Brawler as a dip to gain easy acces to Combat Expertise on her despite her 9 Int.

Linzi:
An interesting dip on Linzi is also Unlettered Arcansit, it is a suptype of the Arcanist class.
You get acces to a familiar to boost linzi's skills even more but you also get a few different spells she can not use as bard and she can also enhance the duration of em with arcanist's exploits, also dimensional slide exploit is super useful on her because her mobility is so bad and she being not very tanky. Familiar can also use scrolls/wands once a turn it seems in the mod, so Linzi can use 2 items a turn.

Octavia:
Also one of my favourites:
There is a hybrid wizard archetype, called Scroll Savant/Exploiter Wizard.
Yes, you get both, the advantages of a scroll savant and also u get exploits, it is very good.
You loose the ability to spec in any school, even general and arcane bond but it is def. worth it.
She can use any scrolls in the game much more effective and exploits increase the DC of all her spells, also she gets some tricks like already called Dimensional Slide to protect her.
That is already good but there is also the Rake Rogue sup archetype.
The Rake Rogue can demoralize enemies when he sneak attacks and this even works with cantrips and that is excactly what Octavia is good at. You can dip in it or get lv 4+ to make this even better.
Very potent Octavia build and an alternative to the Arcane Trickster but you could still get AT levels as well of course. Maybe 10 Scroll Savant/4 Rake/6Arcane Trickster, just an example.

Have fun [:
I also recommand to get the favourite class mod!

It's good to see people enjoying the Call of the Wild mod, I honestly believe it's one of the best and most impactful mods I've ever used. It really helps smooth out some of the imbalanced early game abilities while simultaneously making many other builds and strategies more viable over the whole game. And it adds far more spells vs what they added in Wrath, which is kinda sad for Wrath actually.

I usually go for single class builds, so usually Magaambyan Telepath Psychic, Arrowsong Minstrel Bard, Draconic Druid, Drill Sergeant Fighter, all kinds of Shaman/Witches, etc.

If I used the companions, I might do respecs like some kind of Psychic for Jubilost, Spirit Whisperer Wizard for Octavia, Evangelist Cleric for Tristian, Undead Lord Cleric for Jaethal, Ninja Rogue for Nok-Nok, and more.

Bloodrager MC is also amusing

Yes, the mod is awesome (-:
I discovered it recently, too bad it is no longer supported it seems? but it seems to be mostly bug free, don't pick water oracle though, the ice touch damage revalation always does 1 dmg, it is bugy it seems.
I think the mod has even more classes in total than wraith @.@' can be a bit of a headache to check everything, i still dont get all new classes, dont have time to play all of em ^^'
but it is great it is there.

Hinterlander prestige class on Ekun also works nicely

Yeah I love Hinterlander too. Especially arcane based, partly so you cast Burst of Force and Caustic Eruption at range, but any Hinterlander can be great.

Here is another archetype for Jaethal: Relic Hunter.
What is is? It is still an Inquisitor but uses mechanics from the Occultist Class.
Basically you trade Judgements and Bane for Utility.
I think it makes a more useful Jaethal.
Usually I don't use Jaethal for damage but for Utility.
She supports the party with her spells, skillfullness and her tankyness (-:
I think that's what she is best in.
relic Hunter has a more limited spell list tough, you get same casts per day but your spell selection is more limited, i was confused here when i first chose it.
It is a bit of a trade off and i would not say it is "better" than a base inquisitor but it is def. an option. You'll get an even more skilled Jaethal with some tricks but u'll loose the judgements and have a a bit more limited spell list, at last at the beginning.

Sounds interesting, Relic Hunter and Occultist are a couple of the only ones I haven't really tried.

Actually I think I tried Occultist for a few minutes but it seemed like a lot of micro for little benefit. Maybe I just don't get it yet.

At the start of day you have to choose how you invest your focus into your relics
(a relic can be anything but it is just a lore thing), your optiond depend on what you have choosen, i started jeathel with divination and necromancy implaments(relics) and what gives her the ability to increase her perception via insight bonus and also to give others an insight bonus on skill checks a number of times based on class level and wisdom, there are different power you can choose, also the avaliable spells depend on the implaments(relics) you choose but you only get 1 per spell school per spell level per choosen relic at a time but u can choose add. spells if u select the same implaments while you level up or choose another relic which offers a different school (:
one necromany power lets you summon ANY familiar you want and you can change it as much as you want to

Playing around with the Respecc Mod right now (which is super useful btw), saved me so much time already)
I'm not a big fan of respeccing companions usually but i have to say this:
Octavia has perfect Arcanist stats AND she also uses Chr as Advisor....
Arcanist uses Int,Dex,Chr.... in that order [:
So, Octavia will me Arcanist now :D should be fun to throw those special exploits around

edit: she also makes a nice bard actually but maybe rather as a dip hmmm...
normally you would not use her together with linzi tough

Have you ever thought about making a guide about some of the classes/sub classes. I have read through the thread and now I want to try some of these builds. Maybe think about writing one up.

:rockon::stein:

[: do you mean CoW Mod builds? or just regular class builds for vanilla game?
there are already some guides for the base game classes,
i dont think there is one for CoW but not sure,
just writing my 2 cents down here, so maybe more people try the mod [:
i think the mod is really good but i also recommand respec mod with the 1g cost change, so you can respecc as much as u want, without respecc mod i woudnt know what i should do...
i have insane problems to stick to one class, the same builds on my companions usually and i need like 10 respecs at last is a session, not really possible with the the base game
CoW adds so many build options, i can spend a whole day in the editor and i am still learning
i won't create a serious guide right now but i hope you continue to enjoy the game [:
Longhaul Jul 28, 2022 @ 11:09am
You can do up a guide about the different mixes of classes that have worked for you, or that you have just found pure fun. Like i said.. as i read through this thread initially i was like "hmm ima gonna try that build now".. others would to :stein: My issue is I want to try every single class and subclass and that is a lot with the mods running lmao.. looooots of saved games and respecs...

sure, as soon as i have tested my builds and/or found something else that works well, I'll post it here [:
mbradtke Jul 28, 2022 @ 2:00pm
Another build idea for Jaethal:
Inquistor+ Drill Sergeant (warrior)

I think it synergies really well, CoW also adds more teamwork feats.
Drill Sergeant looses Bravery what is useless for Jaethal anyways and he looses add. weapontrainings so you will have to focus on one weapon(what you'll do prob anyways)
,still gets upgrades on the one weapon tough, you get 2 bonus teamwork feats here + option to share em a limited amount of time, pretty strong archetype for Jaethal, also because you get solo tactics as inquistor, should be pretty solid, even at early levels and make a nice dd,tank, support hybrid
mbradtke Jul 28, 2022 @ 5:32pm
Tristian new option:
Dawnflower Anchorite.... lol
yes, there is a new class just for tristian, basically almost noone else can level in this
very good actually, u loose nothing, cleric with goodies but be careful to take the new feat before you get it or it wont work, u need favourite class mod i think, first take favourite prestige class dawnflower and then get a level in it, then get prestigious spellcaster dawnflower, those will give u some extra skillpoints, lesser skill focus and most important give you full cleric progression, everything... spells, feats etc. u loose no progress at all

btw mythic theuge was also buffed in the CoW mod it seems, so u have faster progress,
should be good now but not my cup of tea [: but you could also make him a weird magic spammer arcane+divine but i prefer to keep him divine
