Specialist School
Does specialist school improve buff spells and the like in any way? Or just DC against
Also am I able to choose one of the opposing schools to get rid of the penalty? (Spell Focus)

The advantage of being a specialist wizard is a extra spell slot per spell level and the school powers.

The disadvantage is that opposite schools spells require a extra spell slot and that's it.

(Thassilonian Specialist get 2 extra spells slots per spell level and cannot cast opposite spells.)
.................

Spell focus give +1 DC

The way to improve a buff spell is with the feat 'spell specialization' who give +2 casting level to one spell and that spell can be changed at each level up. But the spell specialization feat is generally use on something like Scorching Ray to reach the ''next ray'' 2 levels early.

Thanks. Octavia is my only Wizard and she specializes in Transmutation it seems, and they're aren't too many Transmutation spells that effect enemies.
I have Jaethal dualed as an Undead Sorcerer bloodline, Rogagnar of course ES/Dragon Disciple and then Lindsay as Bard/Eldritch Archer
I'm wondering if it's worth it just to keep leveling Rog as Dragon Disciple because he will continue to get spell levels in ES yes?

I don't think I'm going to give Octavia any more levels in rogue. Someone mentioned Arcane Trickster but I don't see a whole lot of advantages to that other than using trickery from a distance.

Personally, i prefer Regongar as a pure magus... but after level 4 Dragon Disciple, you start loosing more than you gain by continuing leveling that prestige class.

A arcane trickster get sneak attack, rays spell like acid splash or scorching ray can add sneak attack dice to each ray. So for the most part, a arcane trickster is a ray (range touch) heavy damage dealer. At level 10 they can add sneak attack to all their damage spells.

She already has sneak attack from Rogue. Someone here said she was meant to so to speak continue Arcane Trickster.
I haven't crafted any characters of my own, figure there's enough companions.
Give Dragon Disciple 4 levels then you think?

was going to start a thread about level cap - is it 20 then?
I don't understand how you can even get to level 20 in some of the "advanced" classes like Dragon Disciple then, since you need to have leveled enough in other classes to pass the requirements in the first place, there seems to be skills for high levels of those classes still.

A arcane trickster can easily do 600+ damage with Hellfire Ray. Arcane trickster is a full caster class, rogue is not.

16 Eldritch Scion / 4 Dragon Disciple

Yes the level cap is 20 (total). Prestige classes only have 10 levels. For example, Dragon disciple max level is 10.

Ah I just noticed that. No tooltips for level when you hover over past 10
There are still new level skills and tooltips for the high levels however
Do you import to the second game?

Also while we're here the quest Magical Prison, I haven't gotten it yet but I've cleared a few of the maps that are involved with it, does that affect anything other than just killing the required monsters

No the second game is his own thing with some reference of the first game here and there.

Yes you just have to kill all the monsters... (minor spoiler / exploit) personally i just teleport myself into the room with dimension door when i think i am ready to beat the Lich skipping the ''killing of monsters''.

Alright so I'm going to clear those maps if there's no big deal.
I'm wondering if there's any other place to buy potions - cleared out Bokken and all the vendors I have in 3 settlements. The Lone Witch too
Healing potions btw

Buy scrolls?

While you cannot use them in combat with classes that don't have access to cure spells, you can right click on them in your inventory and use them with anyone.

Jhod sell divine scrolls.

Yeah that's the point, I need potions for combat.
It's okay, things haven't been so bad lately now that I'm almost mid leveled or so.
I've actually been saving all the potions I find now, healing, except for cure light wounds because it hardly does anything anymore.
Selective Channeling does wonders too

Skeletal Salesman does he appear everywhere?
Every time I find him I don't have money to buy anything good, literally just spent 20k on build points and such

And a sling lol. I can't find a sling anywhere, someone said it was in one of the new towns, I have 3 total but still no sling.
Almost ready to give someone specialization in Staff Sling because that's all I can find.

The point of arcane trickster is sneak attack. You gain +1d6 damage every other level, just like rogue. But with new spells from wizard and caster levels.

18th level Regongar.
8 Eldritch Scion + 10 DD will be 15th level Spelcaster. As such will get only 5th level spells.
14 ES + 4 DD will be 16th level spellcaster and as such get 6th level spell. Notably, the spell Transformation will make you esentially Fighter for 6sec/lvl.

At 1st, 5th and 9th level of DD you will not gain progress spellcasting (=not gain new spells, and spell uses).

So basically you don't have to level both then right?
Maybe I will switch her over - I thought I read somewhere that you can get sneak attack damage with magic

Yes, you can sneak atttack with any "ray" magic by default and on 10 lvl arcane trickster with ANY magic. To elaborate, "ray" spells are the one that needs touch atack ("to hit" roll). Fire ball - not ray. scorching ray, obviously, ray spell

Anything that says touch or ranged touch attack in the description correct?
Ranged Touch they should have called it something else it's a whatchamacalit oxymoron or whatever lol
Now is that just with Arcane Trickster or any class with sneak attack?
