+1 Shortbow damage

I have a +1 Shortbow on Linzi, and the damage is 1d4 instead of 1d4+1. Am I missing something, or is magic of the bow not included? Are shortbows automatically composite?

Edit: Put it on a stronger character, it's not composite. It does 1d6+1 on a medium-sized character. I haven't tested any other small people, but I'll try reduce person later...

Linzi has a negative size modifier affecting her weapons damage as she is so small. This will cause the -1 to damage on all her weapons like you have seen with this one. Picking up a few levels of rogue to augment it with extra damage dice of sneak attack will more than negate this penality. The game does not explain this really well but that is why she does less damage same reason why Amiri's weapon being oversized does more damage than one would of tha ttype same rules.

The mouse over details should tell you how the damage is being calculated. I'm pretty sure there are no size modifiers to damage because the weapon's damage dice are already reduced. I know that she does 1d6 damage with Light Cross bow and 1d8 damage with Heavy Cross Bow instead of 1d8 and 1d10 respectively. With no damage modifier.

Is her strength still 8? I'm pretty sure strength modifiers still apply if they are negative with Short Bow and Long Bow.

I thought the size modifier changes it from 1d6 to 1d4; you're saying it goes as far as 1d4-1? Light xbow just goes from 1d8 to 1d6.
Unfortunately, I don't have a weak character that isn't also small that can use a bow. Can anybody confirm the low strength thing?

Side note: I haven't been able to get a flank with ranged attack. I have multiple melee combatants, though they're all animal companions...

In pnp she would have to use a small shortbow but they have abstracted that (and reasonably so) by just dropping the damage to 1d4. This will apply to all small characters (gnomes, halflings) using any weapon.

Note on the plus side she gets +1 to hit for being small.
