Clerics and armor
How come Harrim can cast cleric spells while wearing armor but Tristian can't? I gave Tristian the light armor proficiency feat, but whenever I put armor on him most of his cleric spells are disabled.

Tristian has a different subclass of cleric. No Armor proficiencies, but some arcane spells in return.

Tristan's archetype of Cleric cannot wear armor.

If I recall correctly, there is a certain type of clerc that cannot use armor, but has better use of spells. Though, it might be something else... Under his character sheet it should say what type he is with details.

Alright, thanks.

Tristian is an archetype that gets rid of the ability to use armor for more buffing and domain related abilities. Part of it is that they vow to only be armored y their faith (and spells) so they lose their powers in any type of armor, even if they're proficient.

That's my understanding, I've never had one in tabletop and it doesn't interest me now either. The armor is too useful.

Where is this information in the game. I've scowered Tristan's information and can't find it. I gave him light armor prof and now that's a wasted feat! Call me annoyed.

It's mentioned in the archetype description, but its oddly not actually mentioned on the 'trait' for it, unlike Druids. Seems like an oversight, personally. I made sure to save in a new slot before I did that science, since I had the feeling he didn't start with armor for a reason.

The Archetype is the Ecclesitheurge. They work fairly well with an Arcane caster to make the Mystic Theurge prestige class.

frustrating. Without creating a new character to look at the starting Ecclesitheurge I'd never see that he can never ever use armor? I really hope there is a retraining option down the line.

Somewhere on these forums is a way to reset and respec characters, though I don't know if you can change their class or not.

I just encountered this too - VERY ANNOYING! Now I wasted the Light Armor proficiency on Tristian! Why do they even allow a class to select a skill that it can't possibly use??? Why not just keep it off the list entirely, or at a minimum, warn you when you try to take it? Now I can't change it without going back to an old save and losing many hours of gameplay! Grrr!!! They should fix thsi is a patch and allow any clerics of that subclass to lose that skill and get another proficiency pick!
