whats a harm spell
Romana Oct 1, 2018 @ 6:52pm
Anything that does negative energy (as opposed to postive). Cure spells (e.g. Cure Light Wounds, Heal, etc...) use postive energy to either heal the living, or harm the undead. Inflict or harm spells (e.g. Inflict Light Wounds, Harm, etc...) use negative energy and can either heal the undead or harm the living.

Neither type of energy is good or evil, postive energy is just the force of life, negative energy is the inverse of it.

Jaethal has a spell like "Inflict like wounds" "Inflict medium wounds" and so on. Simply use this spell on herself and she will heal.

The undead chick has "Inflict light wounds" memorized, she can use it on herself to heal herself.

In addition, clerics can memorize inflict spells at their leisure (Though unless they are neutral and choose to channel negative energy upon creation, or are evil, they cannot spontaneously cast inflict spells.)

Jaethal, as an Inqusitor, has access to Inflict wound spells. But, she will have to be 'healing' herself.

Speaking of which because I haven't tested it out myself yet, but can Jaethal drink healing potions normally or not?
Romana Oct 1, 2018 @ 6:56pm
I haven't tried it myself, if she tried to drink them it would harm her. I don't know if she'll do it at your request.

Guess I should take them off her belt then :P

She can drink healing potions of course. They will kill her... but she can drink them! :P

It is very important for parties of mixed living states to properly lable their potions, lest the dead drink the life and the live drink the death. :blight:

Yeah when I first started playing I drank a healing potion and she died. :(

Yeah fair enough, I always thought of it as Healing spells are full of holy energy, but healing potions were just... alchemical healing draughts of.. healing ingredients. Wasn't sure if it functioned the same way on undead.

Potions are quite literally drinkable spells. Potions with the same name as a spell have the exact same properties of the spell in question (Just with the minimum caster level required to cast it, usually. If it's more potent it's more expensive). A potion of cure light wounds is very much just the spell cure light wounds bottled into a glass vial that you start despertly chugging when you are dying.
