Actually, that should stack, because that ring is giving you a "deflection bonus", which is different from an armor bonus.
To the best of my knowledge anyway, as long as the names aren't the same, they should stack.
They do STACK, but you can't be wearing armor.
What's the point of them? Running around wearing necklaces of natural armour, rings of protection, bracers of armour, and heavy / medium / light armour, plus some of us have shields...are you saying you only need one of those, since they don't stack with each other? That sucks..
So bracers seem to be useful only if you're a robe wearing sissy then?
They're meant for classes that can't wear armor, like a wizard, monk, sorcerer, or the caster Cleric type. Wouldn't toss them, because who knows, you might get one of those in the future!
I gave them to Linzie for now, I'm not tossing them.
Obviously, I can find a use for them I just thought i got a flat bonus.
So in your example, the rings (deflection bonuses), amulets (natural armor bonus), shields (shield bonus) and armor (armor bonus) all stack. The bracers, though, are another armor bonus, so they don't stack with your actual armor.
Why the ♥♥♥♥ does everything else stack but not bracers and armor? This system is so inane.
Because they grant the same kind of bonus. There's a reason the wording is important, like I didn't know for a while that a "competency bonus" is effectively the same thing as getting a bonus. They give it a different name, because of the fact any bonus sharing the same name do not stack, and only the highest applies.
The same source can't stack, different ones do stack.
Amulet of Natural armor is a natural armor bonus, shield gives a shield bonus and armor gives an armor bonus. Braces of armors also give an armor bobus so they don't stack with armor. Rings usually give deflection bonus.
Mind that this also applies to spells. A shield spell gives a shield bonus. If you already have a shield, its bonus its wasted. Same with some spells that give deflection bonus: you're wating your rings. Between multiple buffs from the same source, the highest apply.
Only Dodge bonus can stack.
It's a rule straight out of the tabletop.
They stack with each other, but they don't stack with themselves.
A Natural armor bonus does not stack with another Natural armor bonus. But it will stack with a Deflection bonus, and with a Shield bonus, and with a Luck bonus, and with a Morale bonus, and with a Sacred bonus, etc...
Each of those types stacks with each other, but not with another of the same type.
The only exception is type Dodge.
36 AC, 20 Flat-Footed, 29 Touch, 50 Speed with my Dragonscale armour off.
Wee. I wish the stats showed positive or negative arrows when you hover over different pieces of armour. Would make it so much easier to tell if what I'm buying / wearing is going to actually be useful. It wouldn't take much, just a tiny upwards green arrow if it would increase it, or a tiny red downwards arrow if it would decrease it.
I know there are bonus qualities to things, like Adamantium or Mythril, and the Dragonscale armour provided +30 Acid Resistance, not sure if that's worth the 6 AC and 10 Speed though now. Sadness!
I FINALLY FELT COMFORTABLE WITH MYSELF AND YOU RUINED IT
