A Just Reward
I'm sorry, but WHO DESIGNED THIS QUEST??

Challenge is one thing, but this is just impossible for a lower level character.

I'm trying to survive with my paladin. I managed to kill the hydra with the help of some potions, but that owlbear is complete murder. I tried going invisible, going around the manticore and past the redcaps. But there's a trap, and I don't have a weapon that can hurt them.

So I try invisibility again (as the quest suggests!!) but the owlbear spots me most of the time.

I make it past the owlbear, and there's a completely unavoidable set of traps. That giant plant murders my ass each time I try to fight it. I make it past the plant after several tries, and I CAN'T EXIT THE MAP.

I'm going to have to restart an earlier save, because this is literally impossible. I literally can't avoid being seen by the plant, and literally can't exit the freaking map.

Overall I love the game, but this is just dumb.

I don't know what kind of Difficulty you guys are playing on that makes the Owlbear and Hydra see through invisibility but I came in there playing on Normal with my fighter, chugged a Vanish potion (not even invis) climbed up the tree and chugged another vanish potion to get past the redcap and climbed down the other wall/tree and beat up the two wolves. And that was it. The Journal even tells you to bring Vanish/Invis potions to this fight so the people who complain that they didn't see this comming just can't read apparently.

I actually love this encounter, very few developers would risk upsetting todays gamers with something like this. I think it's hilarious.
Due to the stupid Spell Failure bug and the challenge I stored it for later. Turned out the quest failed after one ingame year and a few months.

You're not meant to kill the monsters, you're just meant to escape. She leaves the map as soon as she finishes talking to you, so it's not like you can find her.

My only hatred of this quest comes that there's no Revenge follow up. No nature check to follow/track the ♥♥♥♥♥. Nothing. She just up and disappears. ♥♥♥♥ that noise.

You know how some games, particularly JRPGs have that one boss fight you aren't supposed to win? This is one of those. The quest itself mentions that going is a bad idea, so maybe the best thing to do is just ignore her.

My biggest problem with the nymph is that you knew she was going to do a heel turn a mile away. She's obviously the queen that the Stag Lord was talking about. She knew where he was from and how to find the secret stuff in his chest. She exploited him to deal with his father I'm guessing. She abandoned him when he got too powerful.

A good heel turn needs to be a surprise and this wasn't one of those things.

I did it with my eldritch scion and it wasn't too bad. I suprisingly like the difficulty and lack of guidance in the game. It's the bugs and superficial barony building that gets to me.

I don´t have enough Athletics for climbing the wall. I ran out of health potions after defeating the manticore and the hydra so I'm unable to fight the owlbear and the red caps. Vanish won´t work, the owlbear will spot me. My char is a fighter without any cure spell so I am completely stuck and my only hope would be some god mode cheat. I deleted all previous saves. My situation is beyond all hope.

The problems is that there is exactly one way you’re meant to escape without a fight. You pretty much have to climb the wall (or at least jump over the ditch in front of the gate) because the flytrap ignores invisibility. If you can’t make the check because you don’t have any bonus to it, it’s impossible to avoid all fights.

Edit: Enter the temple and wait it out there? Nope, can’t enter.

Sneak past the front door? Nope, flytrap ignores invisibility.

Fall into the ditch and crawl up the other side? Nope. Only the way back to the flytrap works.

Lure the flytrap away? Nope. No way I found that works.

If you keep retrying the wall with save scumming it will work eventually. Not saying that's satisfying, but it does work.

I don’t know about the wall, but in normal the dc for jumping the ditch was 20+. With no bonus to athletics, it wasn’t doable, not even on a natural 20.

I also never noticed the wall until I read about it. Bleh.

Doesnt the game tell you to bring a lot of invisibility potions or something?

My plated Paladin got screwed so hard, so I just reverted to a older save and put a foot note about be better prepared for next atempt.

It's possible to have trouble on this as a paladin? Like everything you need to kill to run up the staircase and around the wall is evil. Don't need Athletics or even screw around with the bear & plant.

Interesting. When I was doing this quest I specifically brough invisibility potions with me since the quest log put emphasis on them. It was obviously a trap. I walked into it trusting those potions.

I killed the hydra easily, chugged an invisibility potion and ran towards the owlbear. Instant detection. Reloaded and chugged the potion again and ran towards the manticore. Instant detection. Climbed the wall, chugged the potion and ran towards the tree branch, instant detection by redcap.

At this point I'm running towards the branch but I can't because entanglement trap springs and catches me. So it's me crawling towards the branch and the redcap on my ass. But he doesn't land a hit. I make it down, kill the wolves and run like Forrest Gump towards freedom.

So that was my experience. My paladin of course never mentioned any of this to his companions. It keeps him awake at night though.
