Also spells, buffs, feats.
Feats : weapon focus so on
spells : bless ect..
buffs : stat boosts, rage so on increase bab as you get str or dex bonus
For Prestige Classes for example, a BAB requirement of +7 means you need to be a Fighter level 7 ( or similiar), not a Fighter level 4 with +3 STR modifier.
Base Attack Bonus and ability modifier to attack are separate entities
Unless it's dual wield ranger, then they bab with Str, untill you get finesse. ( if you use ligth weapons).
Fighter classes get +1 per level, priest classes get +15 across 20 levels, Rogues get +14 and Mages get +11 (or something of the sort going by memory).
Then there's all the bonuses you put on top. High Str/dex or any other stat you have feats for, enchantment bonus from weapons or gear, morale etc.
That ends up with a BAB total.
