Bug: Rations are too heavy
Currently, each ration is 10 lbs. So carrying rations for a couple rests is prohibitive. Seems to be a bug - they should be 1lb each.

1lb is too little, 5lb would probably be more reasonable if we are looking at it from a realistic point of view.

I dont know why to take more then for 1 rest... Its pointless, unless you go to dungeon, where you CANT hunt..

I think it is intentional decision, so i could not camp in dugeons after each battle, the problem is that initial party weight limit is way too small (especially if your own character is not strength based class).

It doesnt matter, in early stages, you dont go too much in dungeon. And i act 2 you can buy 2 bags, which gives you aditional weight (one for 100 lb and other 200 lb)

It sure sounds like a design choice. They would have been 1-2 lbs otherwise like normal. Probably there to keep people resting after every fight (or at least make it a hassle so they don't do it).

I can feed a big family for a week with 16/20 kg if you exclude the tools and water which would equal to 40 lbs or so

Not a bug.... The devs made the game like this, until they changed it everyone has to put up with it.

Not a bug, nor is it prohibitive. Beyond popular brain dead gamer culture, there is a very good reason for it to be like this...

1) adds strategy of when and where to bring the food.. You don't need even a single ration if you arent going to go dungeon crawling..

2) early game you never need it..

3) after early game you're more than capable of holding 200lbs worth of rations, not that you need it...

4) again.. its for when you plan to go dungeon crawling...

5) use your brain its not that difficult.

I was thinking of making a post about this very exact thing... The food shouldn't be 10 pounds... The food should be between 1 to 2 pounds. The supplies, I can see being heavy... but, while 10 pounds for 1 person for 1 night seems okay, and 60 pounds for 6 people for 1 night even seems okay... it's when you have more than one night, that it gets retarded,...

Why do I need 120 pounds of "food" for 6 people for two nights? Their gear is only 8-9 pounds of the ration, right?... So why can't they reuse the same gear? It's like: "Oh my, I've slept on these sheets, and ate from these pots and pans, and now they are dirty... I simply must throw them away, and use new ones..."

WHY?!?

If I want to camp in a dungeon for four nights, I need 240 pounds of fracking food, seriously?!?!?!?!?!? How many freaking horses is Amari eating?!?

Before anyone says: "why would you need to spend four nights in a dungeon?!?" (seriously, I can just hear the trolls now)… the answer is that I don't "need" to... but that fact, doesn't change the fact that the "rations" are WAAAAAY too heavy. Six people in a dungeon for four nights should only take at MOST 68 to 70 pounds... not 240 pounds.

And what if we took that to a full week of camping?... 420 pounds? Did Amari start eating elephants? (<--- exaggerating to be funny)… but seriously... that should only be 80 pounds at MAX.

On Pathfinder RPG, a trail ration weigh for 1 lb for people per day, it's not 10 lbs. It's too heavy indeed. People who are wondering where I took this number, just check here, it's from the V1 rules : https://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipmenT/goods-and-services/hunting-camping-survival-gear/#table-food-drink

Except your typical party can go for far more than a day before they need rest. And people already complain that they have to rest too often. Imagine if they actually had to rest every day. So, increased weight is just a balancing act for it. They could've also increased resting times with it, but I guess they made a timeline themselves, so it doesn't matter.

What does rations actually do? I just went into act 2 and i've been resting normally every time i'm low on HP or similar, since they weigh 10 of whatever measurement carrying more then one days worth of rations really bogs my party down. Is it worth?

You need ration for the rest to rest you (Spell...) really. However, when in the open you can hunt for rations.
So using ration have two main use cases :

1) if you rest using your ration without hunting, then you resting time is quite faster (hunting takes often 6+ hours)
2) In dungeon, you cannot hunt, so you need ration to rest

In addition, if you fail your hunting check and do not get enough rations without having any on you, then you wont be fully rested

Not a bug.

They aren't rations alone. They're specifically named 'Camping Supplies and Rations'. Admittedly, you aren't carrying 20 tents around, and these supplies are only ever consumed when you can't hunt... So this argument is both valid and invalid at the same time, you know?

Best thing is to be proactive and place surplus rations into the stash asap. I would have preferred a different system, like a camping inventory screen/tab, purchasing different quality tents etc and having different kinds of rations. I guess the aim with supplies being so heavy is so that all the camping equipment isn't strewn across the inventory.
