How much time to deal with trolls? *SPOILERS*
In act 2 basically from the start you are beset by trolls. Anybody know how long one has to deal with them, I feel I cannot really do much of anything except deal with this otherwise kingdom will falls. So no exploring, taking side quest zones or even doing kingdom projects (the ones that take 14 days for your MC).

Not sure if I am being over zeleous here, anybody know roughly how much leeway one has to deal with this? I would really like to level up my kingdom a bit but feel trapped by this quest.

Anybody?

I think you've got about 2 weeks after the event before it hits stage 1 and you will get a warning in the council room about it, after that another 2-3 weeks before it gets ot be a serious issue and they start killing off npc's near you for instance the mage Bartholomew is at risk, this is an event that you should really solve ASAP. got to the dwarven tower ruins, you can recruit an awesome ranger there who has a vested interest in killing trolls also in the top northwestern part of the first level of the dwarven ruin you have to go to there is a secret spot with an incredible acid longbow for him to use, no more troll trouble ever.

Thanks for the heads up, not sure how much time has passed, mainly passed due to travel / rest but probably a few weeks.

Done Dryad
Met Ranger
At the Witch place currently

Missing
Troll trail
Dwarven Ruin

I have done the ones above as they all fall under the quest. Guess will head to DR then asap after witch.

Do I *need* the gnome with me there? Not my first choise if I can avoid.

No you don't need the gnome if you saved his cart then you can recruit him straight away and leave him in the capital, this is his personal companion quest but he's kind of useless except as the treasurer.

Wonder if I can take him afterwards for his comp quest?

Well, as you said this advisor quest requires 14 days to be completed. Which means that once you started it you have 14 days to explore, complete side quests, and finish kingdom quest related to this second chapter.
Leaving your capitale for some adventures (side/companions quests, kingdom quests) takes no more than 4-6 days (after that you should return to your capital).
These trolls advisor quests are related to the Chapter 2. Finish this chapter.

This chapter begins with the « Troll invasion » event where you meet Kesten Garess in your capital throne room.
This chapter ends in the Dwarven ruins. (bring Amiri and your newly recruited gnome companion there)

By the way, failing or not attending (not sure about the use of this verb) an advisor quest happen sometimes, and is not the end of your kindgom. Losing 1/2 points in 1/2 stats from time to time is part of the game. I'm speaking with the "Normal" kingdom managent difficulty tho. I have no idea how this works in higher management difficulty.

you should have the dwarven watch tower ruins unlocked and going there and speaking with the ranger will unlock the dwarven ruins. it's directly south of the watch tower about a days ride.

Yes you can take him afterwards.

The Dwarven Ruin gets marked by Bartholemew or the ranger. I thought it was the ranger but if you've done all the ranger convos it must be Bartholemew.

Yeah no idea. I rushed it which meant lots of quests were unfinished and then I got swamped with timed crap/kingdom missions as well as probably having misssed out on a number of things and a feeling of unsatisfaction as I like to do every side qust and delay mainquest until I did so. However, other people are saying their kingdom died & gameover from taking what the game considers too long, so no idea. All this timed crap/pressure to do things in a certain order ruins the experience for me.

It is not my fav no, prefer to have time to do stuff, seems like I am missing massive amount of content at the moment since I am forced along a singular route.

Ah well
Robineus Sep 30, 2018 @ 4:30am
I hate overly restrictive time limits as well but it doesn't seem hugely unreasonable in this context, if you don't want to manage the kingdom then just turn it to easy or auto, I don't really like the punishing combat so I lowered the difficulty the only time you should really be complaining is when its designed like Dark Souls which has no options to customise difficulty to the way you like it.
Antinous Sep 30, 2018 @ 4:35am
Actually, there is plenty of time during every chapter to complete all side quests and newly discovered areas. The time limits in this game are only tricky for the first part of the Ancient Curse. Once the Ancient curse has been dealt with the first time, time limits are more than enough.

When you'll finish the second chapter, and before the third chapter begins, you'll be given a HUGE amount of free time. During the second chapter, I only had 2 additionnals areas, and have had improved my barony's stats ranks about 3 times I think. Maybe people are wasting too much time with these barony events managent, and fail during the second chapter for this reason.
Playing with Normal barony management difficult, and with Easy mode combats difficulty.
