Anyone tried running Amiri with a size gargantuan sword?
So the "meta" is to defitely switch Amiri into some other weapon sinze here large sword doesn't upgrade and missing out on +4s etc is really harsh, but an idea occured to me...

There's a Wand of Leaden Blades that you can pick up in Old Sycamore... if you give Amiri Use Magic Item, combined with Enlarge Person, it makes her size large sword into what's effectively size gargantuan... in other words, 4d8 damage a hit before damage bonuses.

...So, yeah, a -2 to hit on a sword that can never reach so much as +2 is... pretty harsh. But then again, a core melee attacker like a barbarian (or in my case, I'm running her up the two handed fighter class) can get enough to-hit bonuses to really have more than enough to hit just about anything even with quite a bit of penalties...

Has anyone tried this? I'm tempted, but I hate to completey screw up the build on one of the strongest companions, especially with the custom companions still bugged

I got her using a two handed battle axe now instead of her starting sword (the Anti troll one that does 1d6.) I was actuallty thinking about sending her up fighter to get the specializations and feates. I do cast enlarge person her all the time in fights. I figure if you start with stats that aren't in the negative it's better.

I am doing something a little more... bold? I am setting up Amiri with polearms (Glaive) as it has nice 6' reach and allows me to set her up behind my tank and easily reach any foes past the front line.

I intend to give her all the cleave power ups even though I hear it may not work as listed, however it may be a giant payoff in setting her up this way. That or I may just stick her with the bastard sword and utilize caster buffs to enhance her blade for periods of time as needed.

If you do use the oversize sword, having vital strike (assuming it will be fixed soon) should be pretty nice. :)

It's worth keeping in mind that it's the same feat for the oversized bastard sword as a regular bastard sword, so having, say, shield and a +4 bastard sword against hard to hit bosses, and using the oversized sword against damage sponges with low AC could work.

Yes, I used Lead Blades+Enlarge for a while, but with Vital Strike bugged it just drops in efficiency.

TBH they have to give us weapon enchanting.

It's really up to you. Lead blades + enlarge works for HP sink enemies but personally I would never trade +hit for extra damage (I can get that with power attack and/or a better weapon).
Also, a tip - give her 1 level of vivisectionist for +4 STR mutagen and 1d6 sneak attack, it's quite deadly especially at the beginning of the game.

I've used the gargantuan sword the entire time I've played and not been casting enlarge person..... definitely not meta gaming her I see lol.

I can't stand her though (personality wise) plus she is still bugged so I might make a Merc Barb.

I liked what @palad1n said about the glaive so I might do that.
