I wanted ask if you were able to find all the pieces of the helmet? I found 9 already still not enough to put it together.
Maybe it is in the troll dungeon where the moon and the sun disks are that never worked for me....
I put it in the position as on the lower level but nohting happened. It might be there.
I don't remember which ones I grabbed and which ones I didn't, but I know there are supposed to be 3 at the ruined watchtower, one at the lone house, and six in the fort. Don't know much more than that :(
We both lack the mark and one helm fragment.
This games preception hidden rolls are sometimes a royal pain in the backside....
Did you solve the moon and sun disc puzzle at the troll dungeon/fort?
I suspect its there.
You gotta go onto the upper floor and match up the runes (little rotatable things) to the corresponding places on the sun and moon disc. The moon disc (left) has a little fish rune, and the sun one (right) has an S thing. So you go to the left rotating thing and change it to fish, and the right one to the S.
But yea I have no idea where to find the other stuff.
Thanks for the info I thought I did exactly that.
Hmmm seems the last piece is somewhere there...... With the last smith piece....
Its probably in the dungeon althrough i am pretty sure I explored everything there.
Well have to go there and get that armor anyway maybe it was a bug....
I completed the witch hut and troll stronghold. I've not done the verdant, lizard village, muddy bog (for the 2nd witch quest).
This is old, by maybe it will help

Pretty sure it wasn't found in a particularly important location, either. Just under a bush somewhere. I know it was for sure found really early. It may have been on a corpse of some poor unfortunate. I don't believe it was after any of the major boss battles I.E the wyvern or the giant Tzatlwyrm etc, though. It may have been being guarded with a giant and annoying slug? I don't recall, it was 12 hours ago at least
What did I do immediately though? Hmm..
I went straight to the Verdant Grove or whatever to deal with the Dryad, but I dealt with everything I came across along the way. I started in the North and worked my way South of the new zone, though.
Gah I wish I could remember more. I'm sorry.
I did search the whole location.....
Seems I missed something sometimes those perception checks dont work
Make a hard save in your Capital and then do a quick run and explore of the areas to the North of the Troll zones (forget the official name of the places, Njaalguard or some taff) and when you find it, take note and then just quickl;y rush over there to avoid wasting any time?
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do I wish this game kept an EXTENSIVE log of everything that has happened that you could always check on if you needed to. Maybe even with a search function built in. Or even printed some extra info on each item "found in the X of Y on MM/DD/YY"
Remember your playthrough difficulty.
Don't assume you didn't miss any Perception DCs.
On the LOWEST setting, theres perceptions of 26. On normal, 36. The guide I linked clearly tells where some of the Soot-Blacked items are, the gloves being in the troll lair (as an example, not going to sift through it).
Remember, it's difficult to assume anything because we can't tell what is a hard feature and what is bugged (you probably didn't even know your suppose to have a calendar in your kingdom management. Keybinding is even still in your options, but its missing too!)
Good luck. Tank the difficulty if you have a hard time hitting the perceptions needed.
Even with all that perception stacked on him, it's usually other characters who "detect" the objects and comment on it just as much as me, unless the party itself gains the highest characters perception and shares it, simply commenting on whoever was closest to the object, anyway. Either way I found the Soot Blackened Brand first, I remember because I stopped to examine it wondering what it was, it looked like something out of Dark Souls or whatnot.
Also, I've never revisited any areas after the first time, pretty much. I ended up travelling to the Abandoned Hut looking for the Dryad because I didn't notice the Verdant place on the world map initially, but after I did I travelled South from there, exploring all the new stuff as I went about it. Somewhere around there, I must have picked up the Soot thing.
Speaking of things I didn't know, is there a way to leave your Kingdom area quicker than walking out of the throne room and then across the town to the exit grid? It takes so long each time and I do it so often, it's tedious. Very tedious.
- No, there is no fast travel out of the Capitol to the map, only from Map into the Capitol.
-" I don't think I've missed anything..." I gave you the link to the guild that describes where everything is. If you're at the same point I am, and don't have the Soot-Blackened set, then its EXTREMELY likely you missed something as there's not much order to events other than what was mentioned. Use the guild, see what pieces your missing (theres only like 5 or something).
Cheers and good luck.
I was just trying to let the OP know I found it first, and the direction I began exploring the new zones after Act 1 in, to give him some advice and tips on where it might be, me not remembering myself where I found it.
If your link contains the information, then that's great. Can you plumb it, find where it says the Soot Blackened Brand is found, then tell the OP? I don't want to spoil anything else by looking at a guide etc etc. Cheers!
Ahh, ok. You kept saying the Soot-Blackened Brand (which is one of the items in the Soot-Blackened Set, like the Soot-Blackened, the Brand, the Gloves, etc).
I get ya now. Sorry for the confusion.
