I just hunt for rations if outside and only keep inventory rations for when in dungeons.
I agree, most weight should be dropped after the first set is bought. Or a seperate ration option that we can choose.
Edit: speelllling heeerd
Personally, I'd like it if we could convert food ingredient items into rations. Would make carrying ingredients more useful aside from the occasional buff. Like, a recipee that consumes food to create rations, but gives no buff.
Would be a nice compromise, I'd think.
I don't know why they changed it from the Pathfinder RPG. In the tabletop game a bedroll weighs 5 lbs, 1 days worth of trail rations is 1 lb, and a waterskin weighs 4 lbs. Even if we are carrying pots and pans the rations shouldn't have disposable cooking supplies.
I really dislike the fact that each character doesn't have their own backpack. I am not usually someone to advocate for more inventory management but the "shared stash" is a horrible idea. If it can be changed it should be.
