As for negative energy, I use it either when I get ambushed since I am usually not close to the front or out of combat to heal Jaethal. Looking at it, an Inquisitor summoner with shield would probably be better in this game, but having cleric spells is comfy.
Herald... does not :(
The Herald Caller should also be able to control all of their summons since both the summoner and summon can understand one-another, but I believe that's also missing.
Herald Callers should have this option as long as they have the charisma.
