Lich hits everyone for 300 damage and stun though...I killed him at level 12 though by casting sirrico and blade barrier into the room from that corner. Once the lich is dead teleport safely into the room.

managed to kill him on lvl 9 by some miracle. it gave me so enough exp to lvl up 2-3 times!

Okay, to summarize all of the above:
After you solved the (mini-)puzzle upstairs to open the blue, "talking" door you have to kill 45 monsters. When you solve the "riddle" and go down in the well in your capital you can find the key for this door but you can't use it until you defeat that 45 monsters. (The charges for the key represents the remaining mobs to kill, so it starts at 45 and goes down to 0 at the end.) The positive effect of the key is that it's kinda identifies the places where these monsters are. I needed this "help" because I couldn't find 2 of them even I scouted the area myself and with scouts (from the Kingdom menu) as well. So I really recommend to go down to the well right after you cleared the first floor of the Barrow.

The teleport "trick" didn't work for me, maybe because it was patched out since release or simple I was lame for that workaround solution.


The lich is a lvl20 wizard and when you start the fight with him normally (after a brief conversation), instantly 4 guardian armor (lvl20 undeads) appear in the room. 2 between you and him and 1-1 on the sides, as well but just nuke the sonsofbitches. Magic is more helpful because he has an armor around 45-49 and has a damage reduction of 15 except magic and bludgeoning. The point is, if you spam a couple of chain lightning or similar spells which requires no aim and you can kill him relatively easy and on low level.
