Monk damage
So a newbie question here, going through the prologue on the way to Oleg's trading post - my traditional monk seems to do like 1-6 damage - that sound about right? Does it get better? Going unarmed all the way.

Also, I dont notice flurry of blows going off, shall I just assume it is?

Flurry is just calculated into the attacks per round. Notice you attack twice instead of once.

Your monk dmg is based off str not dex. Dex to hit, str to dmg.

Every 3 levels above 1 (4,7,10...) monk unnarmed die increases 1 step(d6, d8, d10...)

You can also get dragon style feat chain to add more str bonus to damage.

You can also get an agile amulet of mighty fists in act 2 to use dex to damage :D

which is a trap. You need that slot for amulets of mighty fist with pluses.

Do a Str monk with 14 Dex and be happy. Dont advice Dex monk, will only make people frustrated after some levels as their damage goes down and down compared to other characters.

Dex monk (and Str ones) are only competitive with Jabbying style, that isnt in this game.

This is what I am playing. A totally crit based Dex monk
One possible build for Monk is
1st Monk (scaled fist)
2nd-4th Rogue(knife master) (use dagger or sai) (to get weapon finesse and the feat for dex to damage +2d8 sneak attack). Knife master sneak is D8 and not D6
5th-14th Monk.. max flurry(6 attacks) (or you like, you can take twp and do double kama, at the end.. 6 attacks) with Dex=22 +6 to hit/damge +2d8, +1d8(feat that grants the bonus sneak), +1d8 precision team work, so atleast +4d8 each strike that you have flank which is almost always.
Although is better not to use two weapon style

Good thing about this is, you don't really care about weapon damage. +X daggers are easy to come by. Also if you meet a bludgeon damage type, remove dagger, use hands.

15-20 Well several possiblities..
a) Sorc (dragon blood), Dragon disciple) (Gives +str, +natural armour, +to con I think, some spells)
b) Fighter (weapon specialisation, + more feats. +16bab)
c) Paladin (3 levels .. divine grace = + to saves from charisma,+16 bab), rogue (2 levels + 1d6 sneak, total +5d8 sneak damage per attack)
Any of the 3 options, 24 dex= +7 to hit/damage, You have atleast 3 attacks out of 6 at max bab.

In which case your stats at start (if you take the race I recommend below)
Dex:18 (focus ability increase on dex for AC,+to hit and + to damage.).
Chr:18 (will give you +4 to AC, +4 to saves if you have divine grace).
Con: 14
the rest : 10

You can also take the crane chain of feats for more AC.
You might want to do the paladin(2) around 5-7(for divine grace to help with saves)..
Any Assimar varient that gives +2dex and +2chr(musetouch)
Skill will suck... because only 1 point per level.

Remember that sneaks work on undead.. they only don't work on slimes/goo and elementals.
So sneaks is great!.

All in all, you need to maximise the +to hit.. Don't need to care about damage.

Flurry doesnt work (or shouldnt) with Daggers.

dudex Sep 28, 2018 @ 10:39pm
it does get better as u level.

u can also have casters make u bigger. the bigger u are the more unarmed damage u do.

They can use their feet to kick ;) But daggers are a monk weapon so it works with that anyway.

Yup, Flurry + Non monk weapons, can still get unarmed strikes in.

Vivisectionist works better for Str +Sneak, and doesn't back you into d4 / 6 weapon damage and Dex build. Mutagen is handy also (+Natural Armor, +Str). Half the reason for going Dex is the AC bonus, but with the scaling they've put in your monks not going to be dodging anything useful.
