So a 1d4 +1 means one 4 sided dice is rolled, whatever roll on that dice comes up has +1 added to it.
1 = # of dice
6 = sides on that die
So 1 roll of a six sided die.
10d6 would be 10 six-sided dice.
2d6 + 3
would be 2 six-sided dice + 3 (the number, not more dice)
1d4 + 1
1 four-sided die + 1. So 1-4 +1, or to put another way, 2-5.
so 5 d 6 would be 5x6 would be 5 to 30 damage
In Dialogues with Skill checks. It says for example 2. [Strength 15] (text). When i hover over Strength 15 it says:" Strength,DC: 15 then below it shows the character best suited for this action and Strength +3.
What does that mean?
Which means you would only have a 40% chance of success.
DC 15 means you have to roll a 15 or highter after including bonuses. As it is a Strength check, you add in your Strength BONUS, not the entire attribute. A strength of 16, for example gives you a +3 bonus. So in that case you would have to roll a 12, as 12 + 3 = 15.
Correct. Buffs are important, and buffing before the challenge may help.
For a ranged attack, you would normally add dex instead of strength, but lots of abilities can change this (weapon finesse means that with a weapon like a dagger, even though it is melee, you can add your dex bonus if it is higher than your str bonus).
