Paralyze whole party forever, seems fair.

Items granting permanent freedom of movement are gold here.
Marcos_DS Mar 14, 2019 @ 7:56pm
Not fair, but by that time you should also have cloaks of resistance +5 or +6. Add "good hope" (or maybe even "greater heroism") and you should not get paralyzed often. If some party members still often don't make the save, you can cast "freedom of movement" to render them immune.

Edit: Better yet, use the feat "blind fight" as suggested by JODEGAFUN

Does not help the trait fight blind here?

Oh right, forgot about that. Blind fight renders immune to gaze attacks, also nice for medusas

I got past it with FOM, but I had to go back to my town to swap character that has it, and I lost -6 stats for the day I had to waste. :(

Ah i see, forgot about the bald hilltop wild hunt earlier in the game. Yeah thats rough. You can however assign an advisor to the event card to avoid stat loss (if the event cart is successful)

It is a cheesy, one trick pony tactic. Bad implementation because I think in PnP if you save vs. wild gaze you're immune to it for 24 hours. Once you figured it out it's not much of a challenge

Blind fight negates it (I think it's a decent feat since it helps fight concealment anyway). Spell FOM is good, but can be dispelled (rare but happens). Saves are nice to have, but even if you beat it 95% of the time, the amount of you need to save means you'll eventually be paralyzed. Best way to be safe is to rely on items.

You should have enough items by the end game to make sure most of your party members are okay permanently. Just loaded my last endgame save and here's what I had:

Mallet of Woe (+3 Mace)
Revelry (+5 Rapier)
Ring of Chaos (chaotic only)
Owl skin boot
Greater Ring of Balance (True Neutral only)

Yeah, other than the Monarch they only get 1 chance to stun you with WG with the normal PnP rules.

Actually, its correct (bold for relevant part):

Wild Gaze (Su)

A wild hunt monarch has increased control over his gaze. Each round as a free action, he can select any number of visible creatures to exclude from his gaze. Humanoids and monstrous humanoids that fail the save are dazed as well as paralyzed, and animals and magical beasts are panicked. All other creatures are confused and can never receive the result of “act normally”; on such a result, they instead move in a random direction at full speed, as if pursuing an imaginary target. Succeeding at a save against any wild hunt fey’s wild gaze attack (whether it is that of the monarch or any other member of the hunt) does not grant the normal 24 hour period of immunity to the monarch’s wild gaze attack.
I had trouble with this fight too at first, use freedom of movement (prepare the spell or buy some scrolls) it makes you immune to paralysis

Hey - as Jonwoo89 pointed out above - the Monarch has a special gaze (per the first line of your quote - he has "increased control over his gaze"). The description above is referring strictly to the Monarch.

Regarding the bolded part -"does not grant the normal 24 hour period immunity" is referring to the 24 hour immunity you normally get if you properly save against Wild Gaze.

So what it's saying is - normally, if you successfully save against the Wild Hunt's wild gaze (non Monarch), you get 24 hour immunity after from other normal Wild Gazes. But the Monarch is special. And then to make it clear, the rules reiterate that whether you had saved against a normal Wild Hunt OR the Monarch's Wild Gaze, that does not give you immunity to the Monarch's special Wild Gaze.

Here's an old post from another member referencing the normal Wild Hunt Gaze:

Ok missed that, thanks for the correction, guess they buffed the ability for normal wild hunt members compared to P&P.

If you does the event by killing the stuff on bald hiltop it is auto suceed. Give an advisor the job and go direct to the hill (3-4 ingame hours) kill all stuff and you auto succeed the event.

Its bugged anyway. Even those NPC's not paralyzed (due to Freedom of movement OR simply making their save) do not get a turn during combat. I've cast Freedom of Movement on Amiri (and it clearly shows up as a status effect on her Character sheet) yet the combat turn tracker simply refuses to give her a turn in combat. There isn't even a Paralyzed status condition on her.
