Does a Sylvan Sorcerer's Animal Companion progress in prestige class levels?
If I were to take Mystic Theurge, Arcane Trickster, or Eldritch Knight with a Sylvan Sorcerer, would the Animal Companion get better when taking the Prestige Classes, or do you need to stay in sorcerer?

your bloodline is part of your sorcerer class and does not advance from prestige classes (dragon diciple excepted for dragonic bloodlines)

There is a feat, however, that allows the pet to compensate for 4 levels. So a level 10 sorc + 10 other, the companion can be level 14 instead of level 10.

If you mix with other classes with access to animal companions(Druid, Mad Dog Barbarian, Sacred Huntsman, Cleric with Animal domain, Ranger), they will still contribute to it's growth.

true, forgot about that one, makes it viable to splash in another class and still have a decent animal companion.

Honestly speaking, dont multiclas or prestige class a sorcerer, they gain much more by just staying single classed.

My current playthrough is with an Arcane Trickster Sage Sorcerer, it definately gains more form Rogue and Arcane Trickster. I just got Improved Invisibility; between that, sense vitals, and Impromptu Sneak attack, my rays are doing an extra 7d6 on nearly every attack at level 9.

...Why are you using Improved Invis? Unlike in TT, you get the Gang Up feat for free, so as long as two are in melee with a target you are flanking them.

I'm playing solo, so no ganging up; improved invis gives me sneak attacks as long as they don't have a way to see me, and four impromptu sneak attacks do well for the rest.
