I think the Harrim quest failing is just an oversight.
I kind of hope they fix that. It's vexxing.
Yeah, Chaotic options are more fun.
But does anyone know if the item is important or not?
When you allow Tartuk to build his kingdom he collapses the inside of the fortress for... "reasons". So they'd have to change a lot of stuff. But I feel like they should at least warn you that this will fail Harrims whole quest line.
I don't see why we're forced to leave immediately anyway. The forge is right there, and it's possible to loot everything before fighting them, including the chests in the room with Hargulka and Tartuk if you skirt around the edges of the room.
Anywho, I did a little searching around. The item you get from the forge seems to be used in Harrim's second quest somehow, or finishing his first quest impacts it. It's all pretty vague, between the game being new and bugged the further into it you get.
So I guess right now the options are to let the kingdom rise and fail Harrim's entire personal quest line, or kill/banish the montrous races that just want a place to call their own for the sake of the annoying, depressing dwarf who's running from his past.
