Be happy the elder version brings 180 (and is the most annoing random encounter with the other elementals i found so far, the best are this crappy skelletons who fight like monks, give a str.+4 belt each and 360xp)

Most big XP rewards come from quests and passing skillchecks. I had a DC 45 Bluff check give me ~64000 XP at level 17.

45 dc check..... welllll I guess Ill be loading over and over and voer and over and voer and over cause I got a 26 right now :/

It's in the fifth chapter. At that point you need maybe a dice roll of 10, which is not so bad. Thankfully skill boosting items stack bonuses.

There's a location that you can simply enter, walk up to a guy, manage a single (DC 35 or so) intimidate check and you receive 24k XP or so just like that.
