Oleg's Trading Post Fight
So I'm...confused. I've started over several times trying different classes, just to get a feeling of the game, getting to the Old Sycamore area each time to get a good idea of all the classes. Finally settled on an Eldtricth Scion. So far though, every time I've tried something new I haven't had a problem getting past the fight that's prompted after you talk to Oleg for the first time. This time however, it seems literally impossible for some reason. I don't know if it was a patch or a bug or something, but I don't remember there being 12 bandits swarming the place all at one, five archers and seven melee, but that's what I'm facing now and I can't even get past the melee line, let alone trying to run past all the AoO's on the way to the archers. I have 4 characters. There's 12 of them. I've had to drop the difficulty to the easiest setting, can't even make it then. What am I doing wrong?

start with linzi using bard chant immediiately, if you sit back all the melee focus oleg, you can move val down to take the aggro once oleg dies, use amiris charge ability to take down the named archer first then turn on her barbarian rage to wipe out the others, make sure linzi is somewhere in between all of this providing her buff and use your eld to snipe off any melee not carrying a shield, amiri should finish up and you can charge back to the front line with her to mop up whats left. its important to always focus archers/casters down first with amiri and then melee second so melee doesnt all target her at first. shes going to be your heavy hitter until you level up a bit. let val always go ahead of the group to take the aggro.

doh! you forgot the oil, traps, and tar!

That's the thing. I haven't had to use them until now. I'm wondering if there's something that's changed or I've just been lucky so far?

try using the traps and oil around the trade post that you can find to slow them down while asking bokken to stay and throw alchemist fire on them. Oleg will revive after the battle if he is cut down, so do not worry about his well-being. his arrow of explosion at the very beginning of the fight should take out about 4-5 of those bandits. the rest will be slowed down, giving your ranged attack characters some more time to shoot for a few more rounds.

The timing could be wrong though if the bandits are slowed by rain and do not move into the explosion as fast-that happened to me once lol

I think that might be it, Bob. This is the first time I don't have Val in the party and instead have Harrim, might just have to let Oleg take the tanking to start with, Harrim isn't nearly as tanky as Val is. Thank you!

you've been lucky, doing that fight without those things is insane. Is Oleg helping you? Because simply not having him throw that bomb and kill two alone is enough to make it near impossible on hard.
