well second to humans i mean a free feat is huge
Depends...The STR/CHA or DEX/CHA one is perfect for sorcerors and the WIS/CHA one is very nice for a cleric. If you can find one where both the bonus stats help your class a lot I think it is worth giving up one feat and some extra skill points. Plus you get an extra SLA, element-resistance and ability to take extra AC reduction feat. Honestly don't know why you wouldn't go Assimar on a cleric or sorceror (except RP or if your build is very feat starved)
And I can't stand to play aasimars in this game cuz all of them are kinda ugly - that's the most annoying penalty. All of them are black-skinned with strange glowing eyes...
and btw aasimars have more RP than any of the normal races so they are for sure "stronger" than most races except the uncommon ones...at least in the pnp
but be careful with their racial feats..most of them are pretty bad - even more so if you dont get bonus feats like candy (fighters / rogues / rangers)
I feel like the vast majority of the threats post-Stag Lord are melee, and when they are not, they usually use spells, so I'm not that bothered by the fact that wings only works in melee. I still wouldn't say that halflings are better than aasimars for tanking, because their small size makes them more vulnerable to manoeuvers like tripping. At the end of the day, those two races are pretty well balanced when it comes to tanking, each one having pros and cons.
