Is it just me or is aasimar the best race stat wise
Now what i meant is the the 2 +2 stats and the freedom to pick what ones you get as well as a once a day and the halo and resistances. It just seems like the most versatial race. For example i was making a scaled fist half orc but my stats were kind of meh so i changed to aasimar and they turned out a lot better.Opinions please also is half orc kinda pointless for a a monk as one of their racels dont matter since you most likely wont use a weapon let alone a orc one.

I only see 4 races as useful.

Aasimar, +4 stat points but some of them are quite bad like I think strength also gives charisma. The other bonuses are a nice additions.

Human, 1 more feat at first level and +2 in 1 stat. Great for classes that have a very limited amount of feats but wasted on classes like fighters who get 1 feat every level.

Halfling, best tank.

Elves, I assume they would make the best casters.

Asasimar is good becuase of heritage bonus and how varied it is... they really shouldn't have added it as a playable race without tiefling... so yes they are kind of the best race... or very close to it.

well second to humans i mean a free feat is huge

Depends...The STR/CHA or DEX/CHA one is perfect for sorcerors and the WIS/CHA one is very nice for a cleric. If you can find one where both the bonus stats help your class a lot I think it is worth giving up one feat and some extra skill points. Plus you get an extra SLA, element-resistance and ability to take extra AC reduction feat. Honestly don't know why you wouldn't go Assimar on a cleric or sorceror (except RP or if your build is very feat starved)

Halflings are arguably good contenders for that role with their small size bonuses and better saving throws,
Don't forget that halflings also can choose the feat Cautious Fighter, which gives them +2 AC (so +3 AC with size bonus). That is what makes them superior as tanks compared to assimars (wings only adds +3 AC vs melee).

So... half-elves not even mentioned...

And I can't stand to play aasimars in this game cuz all of them are kinda ugly - that's the most annoying penalty. All of them are black-skinned with strange glowing eyes...

best for almost all builds is human...the bonus feat on lvl 1 opens builds that are nigh impossible/ not optimized for any other race...esspecially feat intensive builds with non fighter classes
and btw aasimars have more RP than any of the normal races so they are for sure "stronger" than most races except the uncommon ones...at least in the pnp
but be careful with their racial feats..most of them are pretty bad - even more so if you dont get bonus feats like candy (fighters / rogues / rangers)

I feel like the vast majority of the threats post-Stag Lord are melee, and when they are not, they usually use spells, so I'm not that bothered by the fact that wings only works in melee. I still wouldn't say that halflings are better than aasimars for tanking, because their small size makes them more vulnerable to manoeuvers like tripping. At the end of the day, those two races are pretty well balanced when it comes to tanking, each one having pros and cons.
