There are spells like Heroism & potions that increase your Charisma that increase you skills checks. Clerics like Tristain have abilities that also increase you skill check for a short time. An extreme case, you could respec for since the Pathfinder Society person is there in the tavern with you but that may not a great solution if you already used you free respecs. You still may want to do this though and put points into Persuation since these checks are one of the biggest sources of XP in the game (late game 50k+ per check).
Depending on your party, you should be able to add about 10 or more to that since bonuses of different types stack.
You can't take 20 on Persuasion checks...
No you cannot and that was absolutely not the point. You can see I said "something like" as an example of a way you can work around failed skill checks in PnP to help avoid a broken quest. In the cRPG they increased the skill checks to compensate for save scumming and did not include other Pathfinder alternatives such as take 20 or aid another. Not all apply to all skill checks but in the cRPG none are present.
